I have been to just about all those cities.  The most ridiculous one has to be Toledo.  That's about as rusty as the Rust Belt gets.

 

I wouldn't want to live in any of those places.  Trying to get people to move back to high home prices and higher taxes??????????

Really, Utah?  Yes its beautiful, but there is too much social pressure to become Mormon... or has that changed yet?

I retired to Utah, 20 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City.

I can't wait to leave!!!!!!!!!! Very bad air quality both summer

& winter.  No culture!  Okay if the only activity you want to

do is missionary work for the church and ski.  Bad Choice!!

Arizona no bugs?    Wait until a wood scorpion nails you.  You will think no bugs.   Trying to find a place to retire is not easy.   You do not want to have to put up with too much cold or heat.   Humidity is a killer for most places in the South and Midwest.   Maybe some of the mountain areas of N. Carolina, Georgia or Tenn.   might be ok but need to check on health care etc.   Much also depends upon how much you have as retirement.  

re: PITTSBURGH making this list: if you are old and broke pittsburgh is the PERFECT city for you. i could write an essay, but i'll try to keep it to a paragraph or 2. first pittsburgh is BANKRUPT (see ACT 47) for 10 years no less! LLLLLLong before the 08' recession. this city panders to old broke people who spend their remaining years drooling on an access bus funded by lottery revenues vs education like florida. pittsburgh's largest employer=UPMC that doesn't pay property taxes which explains why its gobbling up commercial property in the city like a beast! 2nd largest employer= giant eagle a grocery chain. pittsburgh's infrastructure is DEPLORABLE! oldest sewer system in the eastern us,wait til the city residents and probably allegheny co residents, get that bill! for the 2nd time in 6 years PAT transit has been on the verge of bankruptcy thanks to the grossly incompetent democratic political machine that has run the city into the ground over the past 40+ years! highest paid bus drivers in america/per cost of living! yes, housing is relatively reasonable in comparison. HOWEVER, wait til you get your property tax bill! pittsburgh has gone from the 12th largest city in 1950 to the 85th largest today. caution when considering this city whether you are any age!
