The "researcher" was lazy. Take SC for example, In Mt. Pleasant you pay 9% sales tax when you buy a burger, 6% state sales tax and 3% loca sales tax. In North charleston, it is 6% and 2%. etc. Also, in N. charleston, if your dog leaves your property without a leash, like my 7 lb mini-pinscher which soemtimes escapes, the fine is $ 1,000.00, even if the dog is fixed, payable at the pound after they ID you first and then tell you you are fined. That is a tax. On Sullivan's Island, we only paid $ 200.00 fine when the dog escaped. Still a tax. No legitimate public purpose, just a hidden tax.
Actaully, you pay taxes on everything you do here..
All the states mentioned are beautiful. I wish California was like it was in the 50's great place, open spaces , clean water , good people, now all ten look good to me. Nevada is the only one I have been to on a regular basis. I must some of it is beautiful and some not so pretty. But everyone from the building department , post office, NHP, Capitol Building are some of the nicest people I have worked with ever. You want a good place to live Nevada is great. People in general just don't think like the coast. Rent and housing is reasonable, food is the same, but you can't beat a true Nevadan , just good ole boys with a brain.
p.s. it seems that sales and property as well as retirement duns in Texas at least warrants an honorable mention in the article if not a position in the top 5.
property taxes in louisiana are not high with homestead exemption and state income tax
