Be a nurse and work 24/7.  Miss your child growing up.  Miss your family on holidays.  get thrown out when you are at the top of your game for a dimwit grad.  Get treated like crap from the hospital management and doctors alike.  Catch every disease known to man.  thank God the patients are appreciative.

A tour guide, lifeguard, and group fitness instructor are jobs for college students, and I would be shocked if they earned a living wage.

Join the Navy, free rent, three free meals a day and paid travel expenses. Plus 30 days paid vacation and money in your pocket with free medical and dental. What's not to like?

Firefighter is the only job where you can wake up late to go home!

Pretty boring stuff except for fire fighter. Life guard - pays what? Catch your own sand crabs for food? Maybe a Mexican coyote smuggling illegal immigrants across the Colorado River would be more exciting & rewarding. Clear on the right, Clear on the left - no one make a sound - only the sound of the oars dipping in the water on a moonless night. Reaching the far shore and only able to see two feet into the blackness. Then clients slipping off to the black desert night in hopes for a better tomorrow in the promise land.

I'm thinking a senator or congressman would be the way to go. Get paid for doing nothing, and get paid well nearly $200K a year base, plus get all the perks of your office. Free travel, never having to file a legitimate tax return, free gym membership in a beautiful gym that taxpayers built, car service so you don't have to drive or worry about parking, clothing allowance, housing allowance, automatic raises and all you have to do is get re-elected by lying to your voters. You get to meet stars, play golf with the president, go to all the posh parties, and maybe work 2 weeks a year.

why isn't pro golfer or bowler on this list or mattress tester, or day spa reviewer?

I loved working as a Lifeguard at the college pool, working ambulance and saving lives, as a local Councilman, but nothing was as great as volunteering for Missions and helping a Vietnam Vet and his wife fix their home with a team of teens.

Hey how could they forget teaching?  I've been a teacher for 17yrs and a father of two girls.  Besides being off with them during spring, Christmas and summer breaks, the skills that I use in my classroom definitely helps me to be a better dad.  I love what I do and think that being good at home with my family makes me better at work and vice versa.

To balance work and life one would first have to work which eliminates everyone on that list.

The "TOP  JOB"  to have for your work-life balance would be a republican senator in the HOUSE of Congress.....since they DON"T WORK....they have a pretty nice life balance, with a very high salary and hefty benefits....all for doing absolutely nothing.......and YOU pay for it. Obama may have his part-time golf, but these milk-men have it made.

I think it is great that there are opportunities for a better balance between work and home.  My real problem with that is when in order to achieve the balance you want, you have to rely on my tax dollars through the government to help support you and your family.

My ideal job would be that of "OBSTRUCTIONIST" Harry Reid from the United States Senate. He's currently sitting on over 350 bills passed by the "PEOPLES HOUSE" The House of Representatives. Since he won't bring them up for a vote he is essentially doing nothing, doesn't have to worry about balance in his life, and is getting paid too!

I think one job in that list..."firefighter"....had any semblance of meaningful work. Our country creates worthless jobs with zero soul.

To me life life balance is to find myself doing something I like...got to be something useful...like a doctor's.....a good mechanic....a good mason....somebody not trapped by a company....can leave anytime for his/her trade is there for support.....sheep today do not understand that...they want a expense account....the movie lifestyle...and they become slaves....I traveled most of the world working....transportation...merchandise is always there....is you and the world....
