Every week the groceries I buy from produce to dairy, have gone up, and doctors want you to eat healthier. I just about buy the same groceries every week, I cringe when I go to the check out. Every time a flea farts it causes grocery items to go up.

What the government should REALLY start doing is to STOP giving out aid to other countries in the billions, let them do for them selves. IF they fall then so be it, sides that as much money the government gives them WE should own them by now. We did take the Indians land from them right after the US was founded. Stop aiding them and take care of our self. Then take away all the industries that was moved to China/Mexico help making them extreme rich and bring them back over here, and lastly shrink our government down to where it was 50 years ago give or take. This is a sure way of coming back out on top. The Greedy GOP & corporations has completely destroyed this country.

I am a Farmer in Oklahoma. Some parts of our state are on the third drought year in a row. This lack of moisture has our pastures and ponds at their lowest levels in years- forcing us to make some hard decisions like to reduce our beef herd. We all shop at the grocery store for some commodity or the other, so prices increasing are not just hitting the textbook consumer in a big city somewhere. Farmers recieve $.11 of every dollar you spend on your groceries according to the latest figures from the USDA. The other $.89 goes to marketing, transportation, processing, ect. Just food for thought...

The price of fuel is one of the main culprits because it permeates everything.  As far as the inflation index - that is a joke.  It is kind of like an index fund.  You just toss out certain parts of the index periodically.  In real life, you lose because the index lost you money.  Then you add other, higher performing parts in (at higher prices of course).  So, you sell low and buy higher.  But the index itself looks better - on paper.

The reason food prices are rising is because of the out of control spending of our government. The government does not have the money that they spend so they print money to cover the cost. Printing money causes inflation which results in rising prices. While some feel that the government needs to do everything for everyone, the resulting inflation from these policies directly harms those that it is intending to help because basic necessities (food, housing, medical care)  become unaffordable. The government is not our friend. Those in the political class are using average and poor citizens in their power and wealth grab. It is no coincidence that 7 of the wealthiest counties in the US surround Washington DC.

Time to cut ethanol subsidies.  Time to stop using corn (primary feed for cows, pigs, chickens, etc.) as an additive to gasoline.  Food staples should only be used for that purpose.  Over half of those listed would be solved if corn wasn't used for ethanol.
