The best free deal around is 47% of the population get government services free and the remaining 53% is accused of not paying their fair share.  Figure that out.

Don't get hooked on free. What is going on now in Greece & Spain today? Too much free and now it is cut off? Everything costs money to build & maintain. The free riders here will eventually get cut off from lack of so called free money. Someone paid for them and reality will strike here too. Avoid free and get what You pay for and you won't be disappointed.

NEWSFLASH: Any "free" phone that has a contract attached to it is not free. The cost of the phone will merely be absorbed in your plan. It's the same principle behind the auto dealership "trade-in". You know, where they deduct $4000 off the price of your new car because you have a trade-in. What they don't say is that the price of that new car was already inflated to compensate foy your little trade-in before you walked in the door. Bait and switch.

I noticed most of the things on the list are things I wouldn't use anyway. Generally, I agree with those that say you can't get anything for free and you get what you pay for. There are some things though I have been able to get for free such as DVDs from the library. I am fortunate to have the best library in my state in my city. Instead of renting DVS, I can check out an unlimited number of DVDs from the library, and yes they have the new releases. Between the DVDs, music and books I check to, I literally save thousands of dollars a year. One year I calculated I saved $5,000. I call it creating my own tax break. For most people the $20 a year library tax is the best $20 one ever spends in taxes, considering the thousands you get back.

Otherwise I say beware of something that seems to be too good to be true. Generally they are. Have you noticed that it's only greedy people who get taken in by scam artists? It's why I don't feel sorry for those "victims". If you actually believe someone will gfive you thousands of dollars for nothing, than you pretty much have what is coming to you.

OMG the crap of this article is downright hilarious!

Smartphone - sure you can get one for free. You just pay for it twice over in the two year agreement. MORONS.

Free car trip: yeah, good luck getting a CHEAP flight back for a family that ultimately cost less than renting a car and the gas. MORONS.

Dining out w/kids: Unless you have half a dozen kids or more, this is a wash with cooking in. And if you have half a dozen kids or more, you have your own issues. MORONS.

Free shipping: Sure, they just bumped the price up of the item to cover that and added a little extra hoping you wouldn't notice. MORONS.

Amazon Prime movies: must mean that Amazon Prime is free, right? WRONG MORONS.

So many people think a "free" phone is free.. Please people, get a CLUE.  Do you REALLY think these companies are giving away $600 phones for nothing?  24 months @ $90 per month so you can text and talk and check the weather from anywhere.. Sounds to me like that phone is costing you $2200.

Now go break or lose the phone.. if you opted out of insurance, you will pay full price for the replacement.  $400-$800.  If you decide you can't afford that, you get to pay the ETF (Early Termination Fee) which is upwards of $400 depending on the length of contract left.  Or of course you can continue to pay the $90 per month without the benefit of using the phone.

Insurance isn't much better.. look at the iPhone.. $11 per month for insurance, $170 to replace a broken or lost phone.. yes, cheaper than the $599-$699 for the retail phone, but not by that much after two years of paying the premiums..

ANY Way you look at it you are paying.. They get their money in the end.

Cell phones free? Give me a break. If we bought them for a fair price we would more than save the difference in fees.

Some people's kids should be charged double or triple. It is not the children's fault its the parents. Why would you think it is ok for them to run circles around other people tables, kick the back of their booth, scream and/or cry? I was once with a couple who whipped out the diapers and changed their kid on the freakin table. Sheesh.

Any time someone gets something for 'free' the rest of us pay for it. Don't even get me started on 'free' government services. I imagine some 'free' government services cost the taxpayers (or their children, grandchildren, etc) 5 or 10 times more than it would have cost to buy at fair market value.

Hello every time this kind of add comes out, They tell you go to this website. NOTHING IS FREE!!!!

actually, another clueless person here.  TANSTAAFL--there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.  any time you get anything 'free',  the actual cost comes out of another pocket, otherwise, the business would have to have a money tree in their backyard.to make up the cost.  take note-liberals, politicians, unions, school teachers.  they are supposed to be educated intelligent people, but they seem to have real problems understanding this simple concept.
