This country is going through hell because we have pushed god aside and as it said in the bible when people put god aside he brought his wrath down upon them with a flood. no offense to be taken here but all of the atheists are somewhat wrong because what created the thing that created science, The  answer is GOD.  the bible says that nobody not even Jesus Christ himself knows the day of the rapture but only GOD does. No man can predict the second coming, or predict the end of the world, WE NEED TO BRING GOD BACK INTO OUR LIVES TO STOP THIS CRISIS. Many of you will just pass by this article, but the ones that read it, God bless you.

I do believe these are the signs that the Bible talks about. And even the greatest of scientific minds cannot dispute the Bible was God inspired, not Man made. And my personal belief is to believe what the Bible teaches which is not about how good or righteous we are because we all have sinned and fallen short of the Lord's salvation but that we have salvation thru the Son of God, Jesus, who did live but chose to die for our sins, and who also rose again on the third day.  The bible says in John 14:6  I am the way, the truth and the life and no man cometh unto the Father but by me". and John 3:15 " That whosoever believes in Jesus shall not perish but have eternal life".

Why do you allow all the trash on here about someone trying to get a date. This has nothing to do with this site.  I get sick of seeing it.

I agree with Class599.  He seems to be a student of the Bible that has dealved into the writings and realized that all this has been foreseen.  Yes, mankind has wreaked havoc on our world, but God knew we would.  Do not despair though.  All this is leading to a beautiful ending.  It will get worse before it gets better, but God is not merely watching.  He is in control and will usher His government/kingdom in when the time is right.

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

We humans think we can control the forces of nature by changing our habits, going green or whatever.  This century and the last will see major natural and man made disasters just like those that have occurred all through out history.  There have been disasters that have wiped out whole civilizations, Pompeii,Atlantis, parts of the Persian and Greek empires and so on.  The problem with our modern society is that we think we are having the worst of the lot because we can see the effects instantly through electronic media. Fllod, famine, fire, earthquakes, volcanoes, tidal waves and other such calamities have and will always be with us.

How can a God that is so loving be so cruel you ask?  Mankind caused its own downfall through mankinds own actions of disobediance.  God created Man and even gave him a safe environmentally friendly garden and the only rule  was to not eat of a certain tree. Mankind ate of that tree and disobeyed God and mans dominion over nature was ended at that point. Its like kicking an adult child out from the home after trying the best you can to help him or her.  You love them but the repeated disobediance and lack of initiative forces you to make them fend for themselves.  You still love them but they are at the mercy of a situation they created and only by letting them struggle will they come to know responsibility.

As for Steven Hawkins, true he is a great mind but nothing he says has either been proven or disproven.  Call it God, a Creator or what ever you can't get something from nothing.

America needs GOD. turn to him and he will help you, so many people on here have no clue on what they are talking about God. i am not going to preach to you however i do have to say pray to God and believe in him and he will open your eyes, you will understand why you must read bible...its not just stories like some people said on here its so much more. It all starts from praying to our God and his son Jesus Christ. God will open your eyes on so much things that you didn't ever understand. like which church is good and which one is going in the wrong direction or how to stay calm in this hard times. he is waiting for you. maybe i am not the best person to tell you about this after all i am just a person but if you pray to him and believe in him and come to him he will meet you half way and show you everything you have always wanted to know but didnt know where to look for.  PLEASE AMERICANS COME TO GOD....WE NEED GOD!

I noticed someone saying they believe in God and that they don't believe that he caused these things. I AGREE. But that does not mean all these events don't have meaning. In the scriptures the disciples asked Jesus "When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?"    Jesus told them "For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another."

So God and his son (Jesus) did not ,and are not causing these things,  but Jesus was telling the signs that would occur to let ones know what would be happening during the last days, so they could recognize the urgency of the times, and  act in the right way.

I don't know why they bothered spending $15 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans...it's below sea level, on the coast, between the continent's longest river, and a lake, in a hurricane prone area...I wouldn't choose to live there yet the gov't has taken my tax dollars to rebuild it...I say have a New New Orleans further inland...

My prayer is that everyone that has lost a home or a loved one from this flood be given a new home and a new loved one...God is God and He always will be God, and stuff doesn't just happen.  When our country was more of a God fearing God praise willed nation, the covering of God was upon us!  But when a nation kicks God out of everywhere, expect the worst to happen and then some.  Read the "Bible", you know "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth" and find it out for yourself...the economy, all these bad weather conditions, earth quakes in diverse places, sounds like Gods Hand of Protection is lifted a little bit to me>>>  We should cry out to the Lord for forgiveness and repent!

This whole country is at the risk of the biggest disaster our lives have ever seen. Keeping this criminal government in office is going to prove our destruction. They know exactly how they are going to treat us in the next few years. World wars as our future,  The government invading our streets and using any small thing to invade your homes and take what you own. You already see that they are spending billions to build their little secret hide away, their bunkers built with the American peoples tax dollars, yet you will be turned away, only the elite will be welcome for a price. This government is full of criminal politicians and corporate greedy pigs who only have to say the word and Like 9-11, they can cause all the destruction they want while the idiot American public stays in their little Disney land saying, Oh this can't happen in America,, Fooled again by people who don't give one sh it about your ****. Puppets on a string.

there have always been catastrophic events on this planet.   humanoids have only been inhabitants for a blink of an eye.     when a huge asteroid hit the planet the last time that we know about and created a "nuclear winter", it wiped out all living things.   earth has cold spells, warm spells, etc.   what is everyone so surprised about?     change is the only constant.    accept it and adapt, or die.

Please don't blame the lack of spelling skills on teachers.  Blame it on the parents who won't discipline their children.  Blame it on the millions of kids who go home to an empty house everyday with no one to monitor their behavior.  Blame it on the permissiveness of society.  I AM A TEACHER and I see it everyday.  We do the very best that we can with what we have to work with.  Parents, please keep in mind that most everything you say to your child about the school systems, their teachers, politics, your fights, your drinking, and your drugging comes to school with your children.  I know far more about the private lives of today's students than I want to.  Please don't misunderstand.  I am not saying that all children live in these environments, but when you have second and third generation welfare recipients with children pregnant in junior high and not being concerned about it...well, it just shows where our society is headed.  You can spout all the religion at the public that you want to, but it simply boils down to this; do the right thing because it's the right thing to do, not because you have the specter of hell hanging over your head, or because there's a reward for you in the end.  How about changing our attitudes to be less gloom and doom.  A happy life is totally a state of mind.  You are in control.  No one else.  Now I'll get off my soap box.  I hope I haven't misspelled anything.  Most will focus on that and not the message of the post.  How unfortunate.Sarcastic

I truly feel sorry for all the people that have been affected by natural and man made disasters.  But it you live in a hurricane prone state, a flood plain, a tornado prone area, etc., prepare for it, have your home and possessions insured properly,  make copies of precious photos and put the originals in a relatively safe place.  Along with important documents, social security, birth certificates, copies of I.D.'s, insurance policies, extra cash, bank cards.  Make disaster kits with enough food and water and medicine for at least two weeks, not the three days the authorities advise ( look at Louisiana and Hurricane Katrina).  Have these kits in your home and your vehicles.   I just don't get why when these things happen people stand there looking lost and haven't prepared properly.  They stand there with their hand out like the rest of us are supposed to restore their lives.  I don't mind helping anyone in need, but you need to be able to help yourself as well.   Unfortunately most people just go about their lives as if nothing bad will happen and if it does the government will save me.  Truly a fallacy.   I live where we could at any moment have an earthquake, we have a volcano that could erupt, we are prepared as much as we can be and know that we have to take care of ourselves perhaps for several days before the official help shows up.  It's life and bad things happen, but if you prepare you can make a horrible situation survivable and then get back on your feet as soon as possible.  My husband and I do this for ourselves and have taught our now adult children the same.  Hopefully we will never have to test how prepared we are, but if need be we won't be as bad off as those who don't do anything and expect that our government or others will bail them out.

This "article" is a fear-based insurance sales tactic.  It has nothing to do with anything else.  It's trying to get you to spend more money with the likes of AIG which is wrapped up with the banks that have decimated the economy.  This is a vacuum job - they have to sell more "financial products" to vacuum up more of your money.  They are playing on your fears of your Gods, your governments (local, State, Fed) etc.  What you SHOULD fear is the meltdown when these people have all your money and you are out on the street.  That's a disaster that is far more likely to hit any of you than any of these disasters.  And if you do buy insurance, those people are going to accuse you of doing something "wrong" against the fine print or the thing that does happen to you that is "big" won't be covered.  Look at Hurricane Katrina - State Farm had to be threatened with prosecution by the Feds to pay for wind damage because they claimed all the losses were from flooding.  They are weasels and you are being sheep herded into giving them everything you worked for.  You want to get on the right track?  Listen to former President Jimmy Carter.  Yeah.  Him.  He had this figured out and warned us in 1979 and we elected a crooked actor to preside over a complete dismantling the tax system and removing regulations so these financiers can gobble up everything you worked for.  You don't want much, right?  They want $100 million paydays because that's their idea of fun.  All you want is a decent place to live, decent food, a little health care to keep you from dying young, and a trip to the amusement park for a day here and there with the family.  Good luck with that.

I think it is very sad that these disasters happen.  My prayers are with all the people in trouble.

I love living in New Mexico.  We may get some nasty winds and not enough rainfall, but overall, it's a pretty safe and beautiful place to live.  Las Cruces is one of the best retirement places in the country.

I wish there was a way to get some of the flooding waters from the south to New Mexico for our farmers.
