If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.  If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.  If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.  If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.  If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.  If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.  If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.  If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.  If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.  A Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down.  If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.  A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.  If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.  If a Democrat decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.  If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.  A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended".

Pay attention to what they've done here. "Firearm-related deaths" include EVERYTHING, from police shooting an armed murderer to a grandmother shooting a home intruder.

This is the most bogus study I've ever seen.

Let's show some REAL journalism here. Show us some cajones. Crack the real numbers into race of each incident, income of each incident, education of each incident. Show us some real investigative statistics.

Notice they don't talk about the most important gun fact and that is that the largest majority of murders are committed by people who are criminals who don't follow laws in the first place, so what makes people think that so called gun control will deter criminals from getting guns through black market .Even if you eliminated guns completely criminals will still bring them into the country just the same as the drugs and then criminals would have guns and normal people would be nothing more than easy targets with no chance of defense. TRUTH!!

What a bunch of bull dung for an article. Take sparsely populated states and try and categorize them into real crime? Guess the writer never heard of Chicago, Detroit, New York City or Washington, DC.

"As mass shootings continue to appear in the news, many Americans and state leaders are asking how to address the problem without restricting constitutional rights."

ANYONE using a firearm in a crime: life in prison, ANYONE using a firearm resulting in personnel injury or death: Execution, no appeals. ANYONE using a firearm in protection of persons or property: NO CHARGES, NO COURT, NO TRIAL, NO SENTANCE, JUST NATIONAL RECOGNITION OF A CITIZEN UPHOLDING THE CONSTITUTION AMD LAW..

Numbers don't lie but liars make numbers. The funny thing about statistics is they can be skewed however the pollster wants to show them. All need to fully understand what is being expressed via statistics.

The problem is NOT guns.
Look at Switzerland: there is an automatic rifle in every home.
The problem is America and its many violence-prone subcultures.
Take your pick.
This article highlights the redneck or white trash subcultures (not the same, but there is some overlap.)  We could just as well highlight the urban hip hop gangster subcultures.
America is a nation full of sloppy violent ignorant people who identify with subcultures… and here's the rub… they all hate each other.
I sense an unpleasant future.

Alaska, most of the gun related homicides were suicides. They should make it a crime to commit suicide :)))))))))))))))  Suicide and treason are not crimes if you succeed.

This study was a complete waste of time. Let me tell you what is happening out there in the real world. Majority of homicides are happening in the getto. Hands down. Most sucides with guns are probably out in the suburbs. Most random shootings schools, post office, theathers are caused by the crazies oops i'm sorry gotta be politically correct here I mean't the mentally ill. Those of you who want to put race into the picture well all races are equal when it comes to killing. Don't believe me just look at what the european, asian, muslem, african nations have done in the past 500 years to thier own kind.

I did not fully understand the article. The numbers were confusing. I think the article just stinks and has no news value or reporting value.
Jul 24, 2014 7:10PM
Typical liberal media roll of the facts, why didn't msn include deaths from doctors, other items besides guns and automobile deaths, hmmm just doesn't fit the agenda.
Jul 24, 2014 7:55PM

The problem I have about the article of what the CDC reports as facts is nothing more then fictional reporting with the help of the liberal media, the same can be said about the AMA, since both are in bed with the anti-gun nuts and receiving large sums of $$$ from the Bloomberg organization.

503 DAYS This pretty well sums up the issue.
That is, on average, over 21 per DAY!!!
ALSO: The United States ranks 3rd in Murders throughout the World. However, if you take out Chicago, Detroit, Washington D.C., and New Orleans , the United States is 4th from the Bottom for Murders.

These 4 Cities have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the United States.

All 4 are also controlled by Democrats.

It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data ………...right?
Jul 24, 2014 8:57PM
Hell, you get more killed in Chicago in a month than all of these places, MSN liberal antigun propaganda. I don't believe any of this!
Jul 24, 2014 9:16PM
In  2013 these 4 cities accounted for over 1000 homicides, Chicago, Detroit, Wash. D.C., and New Orleans.  What do these cities have in common?
Jul 24, 2014 11:36PM
This article is  total anti-gun propaganda, a scam and more MSN BS!  There are more people shot in a month of weekends in Chicago than are shot in Wyoming in a year.  The same holds true for Houston and most other large cities.  There are more people in any city with a population over 600,000 than there is in the state of Wyoming.  According to the statistics, Wyoming averaged 84.4 gun deaths a year over the ten year period.  More people than that are killed in Chicago, Miami, Houston, L.A. and a dozen or more other cities every year.  Of the 84.4 gun deaths a  year in Wyoming, some are due to accidents and suicides.  Only a group as asinine as MSN would blame a suicide by gun on the gun, or call it gun violence.  A person bent on suicide has lots of options.

The title of this article should be the 5 states with the most deaths by gun PER CAPITA.  The misleading title of this article debunks the entire article.  It is just another piece of crap being foisted off on the public.

i want everyone who is against guns and believes this crap to answer the following

. how come when someone shoots another person the blame is put on the gun.... but when a father locks their kid in a hot car to die they blame the father?????
