VIDEO ON MSN MONEY
United States spends more money on weapons than Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany combined. And most of this money is not spent to protect Americans, but to fight other people's wars for them. America needs to stop trying to be the world's policeman, unless other countries are willing to pay us for our protection. Imagine if just a fraction of the defense budge is spent on domestic programs such as education, infastructure, engergy, and healthcare. We can accomplish so much more if we just stop insisting that we must solve everyone else's problem first. Let other nations take care of their own problems, and that means you, Israel and EU!
As I am of ww2 age, and was in high school during the war years, I feel that I am an eye witness to history. When I speak of this subject to younger generation, it falls on deaf ears. Let me begin- Many reasons have been noted, on why we won ww2, fighting 2 large nations, Every historian today, write's about our industrial might. Yes, that is true. But, when war came in 1941 (I was a freshman in high school), President Roosevelt ordered an immediate freeze on commodity prices, and a freeze on all labor. My father was too old for the draft into military service, but as a union carpenter, he began his service working for government contractor's. The carpenter scale was $1.42 per. hr., in 1941, and remained so until the war was over. This stopped the war profiteering, and it did not break our government paying for the war. Even President Isenhauer, warned "Beware of the military industrial complex" Oh yes, forgot to mention. During ww2, if any individual or business caught black marketing, and selling over OPS prices, was subject to arrest and heavy fine. OPS stands for "Office price stabilization" . I firmly believe that this action was the real reason we were able to maintain and supply all of our allies that fought with us. Thank you for listening.
Now we know who the people are that keep perpetuating this stupid war. Money, money and more money, that's what its' all about. The war makes no sense but when you look at this list and the billions awarded to these contractors you can certainly figure it out. On top of that it opens the door to more billions of dollars spent on foreign aid to these same countries that hate our guts, but what the hell most of it disappears into pockets anyway. If the government didn't waste enough money in this fashion they couldn't keep crying for more. This country is run by a bunch of lying thugs and we are doomed.
US borrows from China to pay these contractors.
Us taxpayers on the hook to repay China.
Why not sell bonds to US taxpayers in the first place?
Why not pay interest to taxpayers rather than China and other creditors?
Answer: That would be politically inconvenient to lawmakers who seek election. It is much
more discreet to go through China and keep war costs off the books like
BushCo did for all the years in office.
When Obama put war costs back on the books, the Republicans pounced criticising
the debt that was now exposed. They blamed Obama for the debt they had created.
Billions for these worthless wars, TRILLIONS in "debt" as a whole and these dumb mother f*****s want to go into Iran?? Wake up America- these new world order satanists are killing this country. Every damn day these ****s are drummin' up another way to put another nail in Americas coffin. WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!!!
Grrrr53 is right on the money. We live in a country where our fellow americans are ASLEEP or DRUNK or DUMBED DOWN from sitcoms or just plain don't care where the money goes and clearly there will be no change in DC unless we have a revolution in the streets and simply get together and refuse to pay any more taxes to the gov't that supports the 1%.
It is so painfully clear that 99% of us have little to no money because it fell uphill to the 1%. There is barely anymore to get from us. Whatever will they do when there is no money to get. Trust me they have a way to get it, thats what is scary we need to figure out what their next touch is, we need to engage in defensive financial strattegy and STOP PAYING TAXES.
"On Jan. 17, 1961, President Dwight Eisenhower gave the nation a dire warning about what he described as a threat to democratic government. He called it the military-industrial complex, a formidable union of defense contractors and the armed forces."
Our young men and women (soldiers) are the human chattle burned on the fires of corporate profits. Removing the fear of conscription has also removed the societal reluctance to engage in war into another element of corporate profitability. (Blackwater/Xi) Mercenaries + stop-loss contracts = war-slaves. We are so surprised when a married father of two on his third/fourth tour of duty goes on a rampage and kills 16 civilians.
Now those military-industrial corporations are granted 1st Amendment rights to spend without limit to further solidify their political control and keep the money flowing.
American's have been fooled by Pentagon wasteful contractor spending. Congress acts like the DOD has a monopoly on job creation. They act like the Department of Education, NASA, The National Science Foundation, and the Department of Energy wouldn't create jobs if only funded by a small fraction that many wastful military projects are funded. Most of advanced stuff is not even created in the US or is owned by other Governments.
The US Army is the worse offender, and I am glad that the Obama Administration wants to drive funding away from the Army and put towards the least wastful Air Force and Navy/Marines. As an employee of a DOD contractor, I know that it takes one DOD civilian representative to get the job done in the Airforce, but it takes 10 civilian reps in the Army.
A historical example is the US Army development of the Apache attack helicoptor. This thing was not designed to fight in the Iraq Dessert in the first gulf war, and for every 2 hours of flight required 14 hours of maintenance. It required heavy modifications to overcome that.
The US Army had the guts to waste even more money on a "Steath" ???? attack helicopter, the Commanche, that wasted billions and was finally cancelled. The US Marines still use the same general airframe from the Cobra attack helipcopter from the 1960s. They just mainatin refits and upgrade, and now the Super Cobra will be further upgraded.

Today's headline event came in the form of Ben Bernanke's testimony before the Joint Economic Committee.
