VIDEO ON MSN MONEY
There is something fundamentally wrong when people get paid 40 MILLION a year to run a company that has a negative return to the shareholders. Why they are allowed to keep their position is beyond me, but I suspect that it is because the members of the board of directors are also being paid exorbitant amounts to attend a meeting every quarter, to rubberstamp the whims of the CEO.
I also do not understand how a corporation, especially today, can feel good about continuing to pay the top echelon of their administration in the millions. Doesn't anyone realize that because the C suite makes millions the average consumer ends up subsidizing that salary? It is why gas is going to cost $4.50 a gallon by summer vacation. If BP, Shell and the others can't produce a multi BILLION dollar profit margin someone might lose their job. So, the middle and lower class get to pay more for essential products, eroding their ability to achieve even the smallest amount of enjoyment out of life, or their potential retirement.
Some street knowledge: There isn't but so much money to go around. Starting in the 1980's salaries for the working stiff became stagnant. Having workers salaries keep up with inflation or raising the minium wage was "bad for profits", "bad for the American economy." My street senses tingle everytime I hear that "BS" argument. I know a con when I hear one. If executives, from high level managers on up, write off their opulent lifestyles to the corporation and pay themselves these extremmely high salaries, then the money has to come from somewhere. The money comes from the workers paychecks, from the futures of their worker's children. They first moved operations from north to south. Then they hired temps. Then they moved it over seas to pay workers even less. Now its raid pensions, cut benifits. It has ruined the middle class and is ruining our country! It's called the GREEDY BASTARD SYNDROME! But what do I know, I'm just street smart.
Is anyone really worth being paid this kind of money? I don't think so. The amount paid to CEO's is just crazy and we wonder why everything cost so much! Where do you think the money comes from, it comes from the consumer paying too much for the products and services we get. The average consumer always pays and are the ones who could least afford it. Thank you CEO's and the Boards who give them this insane amount of money.
Why in the WORLD would these (PERSONS?) accept so much when the REST OF THE COUNTRY, at least for the most part, is having to struggle with money issues? There are and always will be certain ***holes that only see what they think is THEIRS and only THEIRS regardless if someone they love, they hate, or do not know does not enough to eat or clothe themselves with; I feel that I have come in contact with some of them when I feel a cold draft in the vicinity. Maybe that means there souls and spirit have long since vacated.
Surprised to see Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals both paying huge and just think if they let the post office go private you will see a CEO get 100 million a year and every workers pay cut. Plus the post office would seek out new cheaper sources of shipping and bargain for better rates for all routes. Then they would force all the old geezers into retirement.
Just for the the record the Number 1 CEO - McKesson is NOT a a pharmaceutical manufacturer. McKesson provides service and supplies to doctors & Hospitals and acts as a middle man to Pharmacies especially the independent or small chains providing and shipping the drugs to them. McKesson is listed as Pharmaceuticals because it BUYS from the Manufacturers and RESELLS to the smaller chains and independents. Check the company out!
I work for a non-health care retail company and I have two relatives who are doctors and neither they nor the Pharmaceutical Manufactures are the problem with high health care cost. It is the Insurance companies, the Pharmacy chains and the Administration for your major hospital chains. Insrance refuse to pay more than a certain percentage so the Adminstration jacks up the cost to get the bottom line number they want. The Pharmacy chains work with the Insurance companies to dictate a price structure for both branded and generic drugs then dictate to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer how much they will pay for the drug and what price level it will be placed on if they do not agree to that price.
I know from personal experience of paying a differnt price for the same drug not only from different pharmacy chains but within the same national chain based on the location of the branch I used and they were less then 15 miles apart.
this is where greed has cankered the very heart of men.. they look down on the poor with no regard for his position .. its just about them .. they are fat with wealth made by the hand of the working poor. they are like high towers , who look down on their fellow men without pity... mighty wealth has deaden their souls ,they walk without caring for other poor men's woes , they walk down the streets with fat pockets.. like the old kentucky proverb the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer , i declare that greed is a cancer without a cure...
Yet so many people use Chase for there Bank.. A Bank that is the epitome of "Nickle and Diming," and will screw any of their customers without hesitation.
People are outraged but the simplest thing you can do is not use their services. Chase is horrible organization. It seems like the only qualification you need to be a Bank CEO now is the complete lack of empathy or ethics.
I want to start a corporation, I have written so many grants for our community which ended up in the regional offices that are being used against us, in opposite of what it was intended for. I would like to start a business without the restrictions put upon us by the federal or state laws.
We got a fishery in Ekuk and the state troopers harassed the leaser of the company, see how the state works against our indigenous tribes who try to start business to care for themselves? .
I want to start a corporation without the restrictions of state laws, a corporation that does not infringe on the lives and health of all people and that does not contaminate and destroy the life of the world, its air, its waters, its fauna and the people.
