Well, folks . . . I get such a kick out of picturing you redneck/racist/gun-loonie types shooting it out with your neightbors over the last bowl of Raisin Bran! Or maybe the last box of "Depends Diapers" for adults? After all, Granpap may lose control of himself when the howling mob surrounds your "Fortress-House-Bunker!"
In a previous generation, you would have all been referred to as "John Bircher's", but since none of you have a knowledge of history, that's meaningless to you. Oh, well . . .
Gary in Arizona
In 1930 or '31, during the great depression, my mother was living in Arkansas, she hadn't eaten in three days, she tried to pawn a 1 ct diamond ring and a watch with diamonds around the face for enough money to send a telegram to my grandfather (her dad) for bus fare to California. She couldn't pawn them for that little bit of money.
Soooo how does this yokel think gold, silver, jewels, art, is going to help him in a crash. He is living in the clouds.
Seeds? ...you gonna wait for 3-6 months to harvest in the middle of a war zone? Gold/Gems/Art? good luck eating that crap when the world falls apart. Water, pleazzze, learn to filter/treat it from every source possible. Realestate? unless you can guard it and keep it your likely to have it taken from you by deadly force. Fuel, sure, how fast do you think you can run carrying 10 gallons of gas...or better yet drive mad max style with say 30 gallons swashing around the back of your SUV?
Those that survive will be those that have skill, knowledge, tough and fit and above all extremely mobile. All others it comes down to fate.
I'd recommend 90 days of food and water. Warm clothes, boots, blankets, fuel... Guns and ammo, Specie, more silver than gold. Tools... Camping gear comes in handy...
Final SHTF items can be accumutated in the weeks before real trouble. But guns, Ammo, Specie and food require stockpiling for a month or so. Empty water containers come in handy too. Medical supplies also...
Not too much. And if nothing happens, no biggie. You are prepared if something does! Just don't go overboard...
