I believe there should be an income restriction on those serving in public office so as to avoid the appearance of bias. Serving in Congress should be for the benefit of the citizenry, not for special interest groups. Income bias may be hard to prove but it is very easy to detect based on performance.

These people should be voted out and replaced by individuals that can relate to the populace.  I whole heartedly agree with Not Plumber Joe.  What goes on in out Congress is appalling.  Kick backs from lobbyist, insider trading are just two of the myriad of money opportunities these people have.  Citizens of this country have to wake up and begin changing things and reforming our government.

Well, of course, the republicans on the list are all evil and greedy and take unfair advantage....and of course the democrats must all be wonderful resources for the good of the country....

Most of these people go into office with little money and a few years later "bang" they are rich....how do they do it?

Really: and who is pictured - John Kerry and if Ted Kennedy was still alive, he'd be up there too!

so MA has had two corrupt, liberal millionaires to it's recent credit.

And this is the most liberal state in the union, after all we have indicted our last four speakers of the house - who have mostly been convicted for some kind of fraud, violations or other crimes that only Congress and elected officials are supposed to be able to get away with.  They must have pissed someone off to be indicted.

If all the voters would STOP voting for the incumbents, then we could start fresh.  Problem is that media, big business and rich have their personal agendas, money and the connections to get themselves voted - by legal or illegal means.  (George Bush anyone?)

So we get these people back again, and again, and again, and again, and again.

How effective is a Congressperson who is in their 90's?  USELESS, retire and stop living off the teat for change - use your OWN damn money you cheap useless POS.

Can they even stay awake for sessions?

But the American voters are the real stupid ones!

Why

Because you keep voting them back in - so who's fault is it?

Send a message, be an individual, think about what you are doing, educate yourself about these crooks in congress - they are above the law (think - they can use insider trading and you can't?  Really aren't they Americans?  I though that law applied to ALL Americans, why do we have to have a special law instructing Congress they cannot use insider trading?

there are two sets of laws, one for you and me and one for the rich and powerful.

And these people who live in the world of the rich and famous know what is best for the rest of us... Harry Truman said it best "anyone who comes out of Washington rich is a crook".

i think once they leave office they should no longer be recieving any type of salary from the goverment as pay or benefits ... but they get it for life and  that not right or fair  to the american tax payer

Not only should there be term limits there should also be laws against them using insider information to pad their stock market accounts.

These guys know what laws they are working on if you think that does not give them a superior advantage in the stock market then think again.

Oh, this can't be right, because there are Democrats on this list, and we all know that  Democrats are poor, working-class folks.  Only Republicans are rich.

Thes people have to go. They don't care about the real people(the ones who work and pay taxes).

They give themselves raises without permission from us. They work for us therefore we should fire them all. It is the deadbeat people who keeps re-electing these people in. I say if you do not pay taxes, YOU DO NOT VOTE.

It should be against the law to become a millionaire on the people's dime when you are in public office.  If their salary and benefits were in line with the the business owners that pay for it,  congress could balance the budget within a week.  Criminals are more honest than the people in public office.  They at least admit their crooks!

anyone out there think that these guys are in favor of Barry's tax plan?  The one where he said that those who make over $250,000 a year will give a little more, remember?  Doubt it.  But hey, he is in touch with the working people right?  Whatever!

Can't help but notice there are more Democrats than Republicans on this list.  As a Conservative, I say 'way to go' to either side for becoming wealthy in this great country.  However, for the silly Occupiers and lefty class warfare contributors, this must be a real eye-opener!

Interesting.  Of the 19 richest members of Congress, 11 of them are Democrats.  So much for being the "Party of the People".  It's easy to be generous when you're giving away someone else's money.  You can bet their assets, on both sides of the aisle, are protected out the wazoo from the coming tax hikes.  I'd be more interested in knowing how many members of Congress have used their offices to increase their wealth while the rest of the country wallows in recession.  Hypocritical a-holes, the lot of them.  Term limits anyone???

It should be against the law to become a millionaire from the people's taxes.  If our government was run like a business they would all be fired!  They product nothing and vote themselves a raise or better yet get automatic raises.  Criminals are more honest then our 'public servants'.  At least they admit they're crooks!  The cliff is coming and we're all going over (except for congress).

We are expecting people, who are elected to the House and Senate, that are very wealthy and want for nothing, to understand what it is to balance a budget at any level. They are our elected leaders and yet they cannot seem to keep the federal pursestrings taught. Their indifference and often times, arrogance, toward John Q. Public is all the more reason to institute term limits and have newe people with fresh ideas take over.

Look at all the thumbs up vs. the thumbs down. We bitch about them but don't do anything about them. Until there's a true grassroots effort from ordinary citizens to change politics, crooks will remain crooks.

[BRIEFING.COM] Stocks ended modestly higher as the S&P 500 climbed 0.2%, and the Dow added 0.4% to register its 19th consecutive Tuesday of gains.

The major averages saw little change during morning action, but afternoon buying interest helped lift the indices to session highs. Most cyclical sectors (with the exception of materials and technology) finished among the leaders, but the defensively-geared health care sector settled atop the leaderboard as biotechnology outperformed. ...
