NOTE THE TEXTILE MILL PICTURE. THE WORKER IS WEARING LOOSE CLOTHING AND NO SAFETY SHOES AROUND FAST SPINNING MACHINERY. THESE ARE THING WE FIGHT FOR IN THIS COUNTRY. IT IS MORE A QUESTION OF MODERNIZATION THAN LABOR COST. IF YOU FACTOR IN THE LACK OF QUALITY IN IMPORTED GOODS AND THE SHIPPING COST TO GET THEM HERE, THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY, NOT A DEAD END. WE CAN BEAT THEM.

Hey, don't knock the landline phone. I still have one in my house and during a severe power outage last summer that lasted almost a week and a half, everyone's cell phones, mine included, died and we were unable to charge them without electricity. Meanwhile, I still had my landline to communicate in the event of an emergency.

Keep giving us the information, it helps with our investments.  Note--In my view I have always believed that the EU system will fail in the end.  It may take another ten years, but it will fail.

I am alomost always right unfortunately.

Saving these industries will only slow economic recovery.  There are many other industries that must also go or be restructured.  The automobile industry needs a serious restructuring in particular breaking the UAW.  Another industry is the banking industry.  Local banks and mega banks like Bank of American should not have the same banking regulations.  Local banks will be the cornerstone of economic recovery but are having their hands tied with over regulations that is mostly for mega banks.

American: What does bad credit have to do w/giving the insurance the right to increase ur auto insurance? Yes it went to court n the insurance company won.. not once but @ least twice...

There is something really wrong in American..

Gas: leave it to the "Speculators'" Gold diggers is best a fitting name to these people. Running Americans into the ground..

If you want to get the country back on its feet, you have to start at the top.We don't need another president, We need a leader. someone not affliated with dems or reps. someone who is not influenced by lobbyists. someone who will stand up for the american people . When that happens the rest will fall in place, and we can go back to being the great nation we once were.

Some of these trends come to no surprise, the town i live in had quite a few video rental stores less than five years ago-now we just have redbox (doesn't matter to me,that why i have netflix and Hulu plus. Music stores-our only one was Walmart and who wants to buy music from them-they sell the edited version  if the consumer doesn't own a computer or ipod to download their music. I'm surprised that book stores didn't make this list as most of the Barnes and Nobles stores have closed up because of Kindles and all the other book reading devices that are out there to make libraries worthless too.

Free Trade = Lost Jobs for U.S.  Couldn't you see it coming? And they told US that the billions of folks in China would be a wonderful market for our goods.

Actual mechanic - I think you are mistaken. Just because something has an "Amercian"" sounding name doesn't mean squat. Big-O's house brand are imports. Anyway, define American. Firestone is owned by the Japanese (Bridgestone).  Cooper makes crap tires (sue me, baby).

OTHER Than "Technology" Advances, What is Common Thread.??  LABOR COSTS... A Truth Avoided by Unions in Negociating Wage & Benifit Packages for Members, is 'What Goes Around, Comes Back Around."  Wage Increases Cause Product & Service Cost Increases, Which Cause Wage & Benifit Increases, Which Cause Product & Service Cost Increases, etc........

Then, Outsourcing to Other Countries Occurs, Which Cuts Labor Costs & Causes Job Losses.  Who Is to Blame.??  As With Most Other Problems in America, YOU & ME.....

We Let Others Move Us Around, Like Pieces on a Chess Board, for Their Own Greedy Reasons, Pretending They Were Doing It for Us...

Time to TAKE AMERICA BACK, from Corrupt Politicians, Unions, Wall Street, & Military Establishment... Time to Put AMERICA BACK to WORK, Including Able Boddied on Welfare.

Vote Out of Office ALL Politicians Who Have Held Office for 10+ yrs... They Have Been Corrupted.

I don't see land lines ever going away.  I will never get rid of my land line simply because I want to be assured that I can dial out in the midst of an emergency without concern that my signal sucks or the available bandwidth is caput.  I would urge others to do exactly the same.

In terms of video post-production, there are many people who think that they can edit video themselves instead of it being professionally done.  These are the same people who think that they can build an addition on to their house, or fix their own car.  They usually produce an product that looks like it was edited by some novice.

I have worked in television, and there is a major difference between some guy with Final Cut pro who knows how to use it, and a true professional who actually knows what looks good on video.

Of course, like many people today, they do not know what quality is anymore. These products are items that the replacements are poorer quality than the original ones:
 - Video Post Production - A Professional will look better
 - Online video - The quality is poorer, and is not portable to outside the house
 - Newspaper publishing - It is much easier to read the paper than having to spin up the electronic device
 - Landline carriers - Cell phones do not have as good sound quality as a good landline.
 - Photo Finishing - Cheap digital cameras have poor resolution, and the pictures look much worse
 - Record Stores - Downloadable music is of poorer quality than even a good CD, much less a record

So what we have is a lowering of quality and the expense of convenience.  Typical American consumer!

I live in West Texas and have been purchasing my electricity from a Texas company.  I got a call from another company offering cheaper rates yesterday.  I made three (3) phone calls trying to reach a person with TXU Energy followed by a chat with  a person.

First call -  person sounded like they were in India.  He was not local.

Second call - guy from Panama City, Panama answered the phone.  I asked where he was at.

Third call - answered by a lady from Guatamala when I inquired where she was located.

Fourth - TXU website Chat - guy in California

I had foolishly believed I was supporting an all American U.S.A. type company.  Well, they outsourced their calls.

I switched over to another energy provider that does provide only U.S. based people 24/7.

Buy American whenever possible.  Research whom you do business with and their practices.

I have been with Blockbuster for years and I love it . I would be totally lost without them. The info they give you with each movie is very useful to me.I am hearing impaired and they even tell you what movies are sub-titled. I will stay with them until the very end.  You cant beat Blu-ray DVD. Please hang in there BB.
