When you freeze your credit, identity thieves can't take out loans in your name. But it's a drastic move. Is it right for you?
You don't have to be looking to take out a mortgage or apply for a credit card for good credit to be important -- and it's worth your time to monitor it.
Expect less direct-mail advertising and a lot more social media and targeted ads, plus a big push for nontraditional bank customers.
Because swiping a card is less painful -- and less limiting -- than taking money out of your wallet, it's easy to get into debt. Climbing out is harder, but it can be done.
You could get turned down for your 'preapproved' credit card, and you might get a lower interest rate if you shop around on your own.
Shouldn't you get a little credit for being such a great tenant? Turns out, now you can.
You paid off that debt or disputed those errors on your credit report, but they're still there. Now what?
This step will put you in the catbird seat when you're financing the purchase of a new or used car. Otherwise you could be getting ripped off.
