'Carlos Danger,' rising business superstar
Anthony Weiner's alter ego gets his own merchandise, airline discount and cocktail listing.
Mr. Danger shot to fame this week after an awkward press conference held by Anthony Weiner, who's running for mayor of New York. Weiner acknowledged an ongoing pattern of inappropriate messages to young women on the Internet and said he sent many of those messages using the name "Carlos Danger."
Predictably, the media had a Danger-filled field day with the news. Slate rolled out a Carlos Danger name generator. Bay Area News Group creatively named the entire saga "Weinergate II: The Ballad of Carlos Danger."
And though Weiner probably never wants to hear the words "Carlos Danger" again (although you never know with this guy), the moniker is taking on a life of its own at companies across the country.
Spirit Airlines seized upon the name for a special promotion offering $24 off its Mexico vacation packages. The airline's new ad shows a superhero hot dog with the name holding a cell phone.
A Spirit spokeswoman played it straight when asked about the promotion. "We're spreading the word of vacation package savings," Misty Pinson told The Consumerist. "What's not to love about low fares and great deals?"
The Carlos Danger merchandise is in full effect as well, including T-shirts that say, "And on the sixth day, God created Carlos." There are also Cafepress shirts made for women that say, "Danger -- Carlos is around."
A New York fitness club has worked Carlos Danger into its advertising. And one Brooklyn restaurant, Buttermilk Channel, has even developed the Carlos Danger cocktail. The restaurant's bar manager describes it as a mezcal cocktail with grapefruit juice, lime juice, honey syrup, Campari and a grapefruit zest and sugar rim, according to Eater NY.
By the way, the real Carlos Danger (or one of them, anyway) is a Miami psychiatrist who apparently wants nothing to do with any of this. He is not returning calls to his office, The Washington Post reports.

Should we be concerned about his other internet account? "Nigel Sticky Wicket".
If there was any doubt that he is a pervert when he resigned from congress, there isnt any now. Exteme narcissists rarely have one disorder, it migrates through all aspects of judgement and character This should make New Yorkers more than wary but throughly alarmed that he may be their mayor.
Also, I really have to wonder what kind of disorders his wife suffers to be standing by his side. I suspect she is selling out her dignity for status and opportunities for self advancement by continuing the Hillary connection. Also bet the governors residence is nicer than her current crib.
He knows how to win the female votes.
Become a Peter Tweeter Repeater as Leno says.
New Yorkers are being begged to vote for this guy by all of the comedians.
Damnit Mr.Weiner. Thanks to you every hotdog looks like your pee-pee now.
I can't help but think that Mrs. Danger has a new theme song to the tune of "It's the Talk of the Town."
I can't show my face,
Can't go any place
People stop and stare,
It's so hard to bear.
Everybody knows what you're sexting
It's the talk of the town.

[BRIEFING.COM] Equity indices settled on their lows following a steady, session-long slide. Similar to yesterday, small-caps paced the retreat as the Russell 2000 fell 1.6%, extending its December loss to 3.6%. The S&P 500 settled lower by 1.1%, widening its month-to-date decline to 1.3%.
There was no specific news catalyst behind today's slide, which had the markings of broad-based profit-taking. Seven of ten sectors settled with losses of 1.0% or more while only two groups ... More
