Disney plans theme park all-nighter May 24
The company will open three facilities in California and Florida for 24 hours straight to kick off Memorial Day weekend.
Good news for insomniacs in Florida and California looking for some late-night fun next month: Walt Disney (DIS) says it will celebrate the start of summer by keeping three theme parks open for 24 hours straight on Friday, May 24.
“Guests can start Memorial Day Weekend with a 24-hour-marathon of memory-making,” said Walt Disney World President George Kalogridis, “as three parks stay open all day and all night to celebrate the bi-coastal kick-off of our Disney Parks Monstrous Summer,” a tie-in to the "Monsters, Inc." prequel opening in June.
According to Kalogridis, the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida, along with Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure Park in California, will stay open from 6 a.m. on May 24 to 6 a.m. May 25.
The parks will have late-night dance parties and feature costumed Disney characters in their pajamas.
The Disney fan site Inside the Magic says all three parks will have limited-edition specialty merchandise available throughout the 24 hour period, along with food and beverage offerings “plus other surprises throughout the entire day.”
Disney held a similar event last year to celebrate the 2012 leap year.
A crazy price to pay !!!!Wish I could afford it!
I have other things to pay before I can do this, but would like too......
Disneyland used to do that every for Senior Prom night. Or was it graduation? Can't remember now, been over 40 years ago. But they stopped doing it, I heard, because there began to be problems, kids getting into fights and smuggling in pot and such things. As usual...a few ruined a neat thing for many.
