Obama set to push for gun control
The president is expected to call for expanded background checks and a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
News is emerging late Tuesday that President Obama is expected to issue a sweeping call for increased gun control, including renewing a ban on assault weapons.Obama will also push Wednesday for universal background checks and a ban on high-capacity magazines. Obama is expected to address school security, notes NBC reporter Chuck Todd on Twitter, but he will not call for armed guards at schools.
The move comes as the National Rifle Association launches a campaign against Obama's refusal to require armed guards in schools. At the NRAStandandFight website, the association is showing a video calling Obama an "elitist hypocrite" because his children are protected by armed guards.
The NRA said it has seen an "unprecedented" spike in membership numbers in the last month, CNN reports, with 250,000 people joining the 4.25 million existing members. Spokesman Andrew Arulanadam told the network that "this is going to be a very expensive and hard-fought fight."
The intense focus on gun control came after a Dec. 14 massacre at a Connecticut school in which a 20-year-old gunman killed 20 children and six educators. After the shooting, Vice President Joe Biden led a panel tasked with analyzing gun control.

The CONSTITUTION says the right to bare arms shall not be infringed. I guess the imbecile Obama does not understand that. His actions violate his oath to uphold the Constitution and thus he is a traitor, plain and simple.
A true assualt weapon is ful automatic. None of these are. They may have cosmetically modern features, like collapsible stocks, pistol grips, bayonet lugs and flash suppressors, but they are not assault weapons. They fire inferior cartridges. A 5.56/.223 is a small, short range cartridge in realtion to a real rifle cartridge like a .308 or 30-06. 30 round clips are not unusual. You cannot hunt in many states with this cartridge, because it is not lethal enough. Anyone with a half hour of training should be able to change out 10 clips in under 5 seconds. We had to do that blind folded in the service.
Taxes on gguns or licenses on them would be a clear violation of the Second Amendment, much like taxes on newspapers have been held to be.
In 2011, 323 people in the US were killed with Rifles according to the FBI. So far the tally in 2012 is well below that. Over 1200 were killed with hammers. In Chicago there was not ONE SINGLE death by Rifle Fire. Imagine that, with well over 500 in a city that has banned all guns for a half century.
Now we can have better background checks. We should have a mental illness database. But gun owners should not pay for it. If liberals want it, let them pay for it.
But once again we have an Imbecile Presdient, that obviously now is a traitor. His excutive orders can be ignored by all but Federal employees, who can be fired for disobeying them. Of course Congress need not fund any of his orders either. Obama's executive order are NOT law. They have can be ignored IF they VIOLATE the Constitution.
I would like to point out that Erik Holder was running the “Fast and Furious” program. Remember, No one in Arizona, at ATF headquarters in Washington or at the Justice Department acted to end the operation until two weapons that were allowed to flow into Mexico were found at the scene of a shootout where a federal border agent, Brian Terry, was killed in December 2010.
Let’s take about gun control Really?. I want to be like Iran and stone people to death. Then we can talk about gun control
The new laws don’t change anything except make it harder for honest people to get a fire arm. The police don’t carry weapons to protect you; they carry them to protect themselves. I think mental health would be the road to take, and ask yourself what this new law would do to stop a crazy people with a gun, knife, or bomb. If he killed 10-15 children with a knife, would you want to outlaw knifes? I hope people would think rational about all this and understand your 2nd amendment it being removed. How would you feel if your 1st amendment was removed, and you could not speak out about the government? I would love to see the ACLU swallow this load.

When you wrote home to your wife 30 years ago, did you tell her about the car that you are driving today?
The Constitution is fine! But it also needs to be brought up to date sensibly.
And for those thinking about, "Well! They wrote the second amendment so that we could some day forcefully take back our government with guns." Forget it! That was when they has muskets and we had muskets. There is absolutely NO chance that a bunch of over weight, half blind, rednecks in pick up trucks are going to over throw a highly trained, modern, well equipped, eye in the sky, military.
Just ask the Taliban. Oh sorry! You can't.
Get over it... All you need for personal shooting and personal protection is a bolt action rifle or shotgun and a 6 shot revolver.
I'm not taking sides, I'm just using this thing called, "Common Sense."
