Kohls is one of those stores that heavily inflates their "regular" prices so that when they have a sale they want you to think you are getting a great bargain.  Any savvy shopper quickly figures that Kohls "sale" prices are no lower than other stores everyday prices.  Also, I hate all their gimmicks...Kohls bucks, coupons etc....I wish they would just reduce their everyday prices and quit the gimmicks.  Also they will no longer honor the Kohls bucks, coupons etc. if you dont use them within the specified dates, something they were always pretty lenient about...I dont like being told when I have to shop rather than shopping when I need to.

Everyone pays full price as that's the price after markdown. The price before markdown is the fools' price.

I mainly shop clearance.  The Gap has some excellent prices on end of season clearance.  I bought a summer dress back in August that was originally $50 and I paid $12 for it, excited to wear it on vacation this summer.  I also bought a bunch of t-shirts for my son for $5 a piece.  I also bought a coat wool coat at Sears last year that was ticketed at $245, I paid $10 dollars for it when they had their final clearance on all coats.

I went into a store on a monday and bought a pair of pants for twenty five dollars. The next week I went in same store with huge signs that said buy one get one free. Went to same pants and they were priced 50 bucks a piece!! Buy one for fifty get one free.... Really.......!!!! That is still 25 dollars for a pair of pants. Gotta love the schemes these places pull.......

I worked at a Kohl's store five years and I can tell you, it's a huge rip off.  You think it's on sale?  Nope.  It's highly marked up so that it looks marked down.   After I quit working there, I quit shopping there.

Buy your summer clothes in the fall when they mark them down and winter clothes in the spring....

An open reply to  'I tell it like it is'   If you truly get your goods with the 'five finger discount' . You are part of the problem. One reason for inflated prices is to make up for shoplifters like you.  It is estimated that if they could get rid of shoplifter & employee theft  all prices could be reduced by 10% . 10% is an old figure, I wouldn't be surprised if it were higher than that now with the increase in 'groups' of people that their entire income is from shoplifting.

So you  "I tell it like it is' are costing everyone here who work for their living,  money. BTW if you have kids don't you know they are watching you & learning from you?? If so someday you may get a call from them from jail.  They have stolen a car. Remember they learned it from YOU!!

Actually, you shouldn't pay regular price at ANY store, as they always have to get rid or merchandise and mark it down. some more store that not only have numerous coupons but have regular sales:

1.) Macys

2.) Bloomingdales

3.) Saks Fifth Avenue

Of all of these I only shop Kohl's . yes I know their everyday prices are inflated.  I ONLY shop  sales & clearance. Plus I do it on Senior day  with Cash back or when I have a discount coupon greater than 15% with Cash back. A couple of years ago I found a Hoover vacuum cleaner that was rated Consumer Reports Best.  Between 30% off plus  their sale on it and my Cash back I got  the $269  for less than $ 100, -either for $79 or $89 and cash back for that purchase. Sometimes when I get a 30% off coupon I call my daughter.  She is a low paid teacher, divorced & the Mother of two.  We hit the Gold Star clearance for her & my Grandsons.  Any cash back I usually give to her.   She is the best dressed teacher at her school and all for pennies on the dollar. Plus for her being well dressed has helped her in her career.  Just like for a successful marriage you have to 'work' on it.  To be a smart shopper you have to ' work' on it.  More than ever every penny counts now days.

Someone here complained about having to spend cash back on certain days & using % off coupons  on certain days. Well lambchop  that's how it is everywhere.  You can't go to Safeway & ask them to sell you a roast at a price they had during last weeks sale.  Get real, there are rules every where. Follow them like the rest of us.

Only two of these stores sells quality.  The others sells cheaply made, overpriced garbage - no matter what the price.   Garbage is garbage.   I purchased a rather expensive (Kohl's expensive) sweater at the beginning of the 2014 fall.   Now, it's falling apart and ready for the trash.  I wouldn't even donate it!   Shop Marshall's or Burlington or Target!   You can get better quality for a decent price if you don't mind digging around.   Marshall's and Burlington sells the higher end items the higher end stores couldn't sell before the season (or style) was over.

Problem with these stores, especially Khol's, quality is CRAP.  J Crew is for yuppies with cash that are in fantastic shape.  It's the same old fake markdown after an equally fake increase in price.  I shop mostly online now.

Kohls is a joke on their prices.  The clothes are cheaply made - I will never buy for myself or any family member there.  From time to time I will get a card in the mail for $10 off and all I buy is something for $10 -  they will never get my money.  A friend of mine worked for them and they cheated her and other employees out of over time plus other nasty little things like no breaks.  The rest of the stores, I have never even stepped into one so no problem there as far as my buying anything from them.

Kohl's is my go-to store for everything from clothing to housewares.  I've NEVER paid full price for anything there.  Their prices are always discounted and I always have a mailer that allows me an additional 15-30% more off everything.  And I love that they almost always offer Kohl's Cash!
