i tried to get a discount at my funeral home & the man said ,he would give me the lay away plan ,i asked him if he was joking , he said  YES ,and stated ,,,we cant give you a discont for that,, i thought that was not right ,to say it that way to me .so i told him i would give him a lay away plan. he said how,,,,, i said " i will lay you out for nothing"  he just laughed and walked away ,,,looking back at me ,,shaking his head.  the moral of this story is ,watch out where you ask for a discount,,, you may be surprised when you get a anser,,,,,lol

Where's WalMart's SENIOR DISCOUNT? Don't we count?
Where's the corrupt Republican OIL & FINANCIAL corporate SENIOR DISCOUNTS? Don't we count? Or is it all just TAKE, TAKE, TAKE! We are the SAME PEOPLE THAT MADE THEM SUCCESSFUL IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
Why are we having to pay Fed & State taxes? Look how much money we could be putting back into our now COLLAPSED ECONOMY! Don't we count?

Even when I was a young, I understood that old people deserved respect (if for nothing else, for having survived so long). Life is tough and anyone who manages to endure it deserves respect.

 

Discounts are good and I'm glad I joined AARP. My most recent renewal was for three years. Soon afterwards, I was laid off and a young man was hired to replace me. Those discounts have helped. I made back the cost of membership in a few days and continue to save. No, steveoreno, I don't work for AARP. Although they do whine too much and send annoying emails wanting me to help others (when I can't even help myself), I am still saving money now when I need it the most.

 

I vote for who and what I want; AARP doesn't own me just because I'm a member. The article mentions AARP so much because it has so many discounts with so many organizations. I save money with AARP and other senior discounts without regrets.

Was this series done to get a kickback from AARP?  I refuse to become a member of AARP because of their lobbying efforts and the fact that they are primarily a shill for their insurance policies.

The word is getting "older" not "old."  The very definition has changed.  I'm 63 and never felt better, or was in better shape,  I mean it literally.  I was mainly sedentary (I guess, looking back) and now I exercise way more and travel the world.  This is after retiring with 37 years with a major corp.
