Social Security is not an entitlement it is a retirement fund that you pay into each pay day. Is it asking too much to get the same value of the money when you put it in as when you qualify to receive it? You don't even get interest on your money. The government has failed to keep up with inflation they created. The government putting it into the general fund and then taking our retirement Money for other purposes was guaranteed by the originator not to happen. Those people need to be subpoena to court and be charged with embezzlement of funds. Most of us won't live long enough to get back what we put in. Seniors are going hungry and are too proud to say anything. Entitlements rear end, this was paid for in full in cash.

it is not so much things are going up in price but what is happening is that the purchasing power of your dollar keeps going down because our GOV prints massive amounts of worthless un earned money and injects it into the system, they figured out a way to get their hand into your wallet without actually physically doing it

not a damn thing that any of us can do about it.  there will be no middle class, we are on our way to becoming either rich or poor, one or the other.

Food Stamps are one of the most abused and wasteful social program this country has ever developed. A family of four receives more money monthly then my family of five spends a month on food. The amount paid out each month should be cut by at least one third. Purchases by food stamps should be (if not already) restricted to the following: Fresh/frozen non prepared meats & fish, fresh/frozen non prepared vegetables, deli meats/cheeses, canned goods, breads, non sweetened dairy, and non sweetened juices. The following should always be banned, and processes need to be in place where not already, to restrict: Soda, bottled water, power and energy drinks, sweetened juices, coffee, tea, ice cream, candy, energy bars, any pre-prepared meals or sandwiches, snacks/junk food, or any food that is mail ordered or shipped anywhere. If these rules would be followed, and recipients would learn how to shop and properly eat, no one would be hungry and we the taxpayers would save billions.

Tobacco and alcohol should be banned from purchase by welfare funds. No cash should be allowed to be pulled off of any assistance cards except at banks and should be limited to a very low percentage of funds.

What does this say about the .015% COLA the seniors got? No COLA raises the two prior years. The fat cats live it up while many seniors go without. Some old guy buying a can of salty soup for his food for the entire day. A very prejudice and ungrateful president toward Grandma & Grandpa who built the America he rules. The young are starting to figure it out. They are getting screwed with the scraps off the table and the old are dying from depression from lack of fair value inflation COLA on social security checks.

Just wait until you retire?  Meat is a luxury, and it's usually a pork roast, which is about half the price of ground beef?  Chicken, when on sale...  I'm a fisherman and hunter, and try to harvest as much fish each summer (into the freezer) and game in the fall (venison, geese, ducks, etc.).  I keep a small vegetable garden and raise tomatoes, turnips, lettuce, squash, peas, beans, and process some of them and freeze them.  Some things, like squash, will store under the right conditions, all winter.

If I get a deer in the fall, I butcher it myself, and using a motorized grinder, make venison burger, then freeze it.  Also freeze roasts, chops, but most is ground?  Ground venison is very lean, but just about impossible to distinguish from lean ground beef?

I have yet to see one administration (no matter what president nor party that is in control) who can make this economy any better and keep the price of oil and food down. Not one single one of them in Washington! One thing for sure, this president and his band of democrats have allowed things to get even worse since they all took office. If prices keep rising and wages are kept down, we will be become like any other third world country on the map. That is unless you work for the federal government where you can receive bonuses and raises for doing nothing.

COLA is based on the inflation rate.  Here is the caveat.  Under the Obama administration, in order to keep inflation artificially low, food and fuel (gasoline, heating oil, natural gas, etc.) are no longer figured into the inflation calculation.

While our President goes on Letterman, takes a yearly trip to Hawaii, plays plenty of golf, hob knobs with Hollywood celebrities, and Michelle plus entourage takes world site seeing trips on our dime, the working class and seniors who depend on COLA to keep up with rising prices get screwed.

Pretty nice eh?

Yes, and the cost-of-living for seniors only went up 1.7% according to COLA.  But, hey, as long as you don't eat meat, fruit, vegetables or dairy, you're fine. right?  That leaves, corn mush, beans, and oatmeal without milk.   Oh, and the cost of gas and heat has gone up to so you should be prepared to walk a lot to keep warm.

I noticed social security does not keep up with the cost of living anymore. But food stamps sure do. And by the way, I have not seen a raise at my job in 6 years. Unless you count the 1% I received last year. 1% pay raise in 6 years that sucks. My bosses keep saying just be happy you have a job. In the mean time during the last 6 years food prices have gone up a lot, along with my medical insurance and other job bennys.

i see a lot of comments about people collecting food stamps. yet you probably didn't bitch about spending between 4 and 6 trillion on 2 wars that gained us absolutely nothing except a lot of family's that lost a son or daughter or brother or sister or mother or father or the 50+ billion a year in foreign aid we give away to countries that all pretty much hate us or even the nearly 2 billion spent on the last presidential election. i guess you'd rather give money away than feed the hungry.

Can we just get them to somehow reconsider putting the cost of food and fuel back into the equation for adjusting our cost of living ? It seems they have gotten all the mileage they can out of this , increase costs without having to adjust incomes to keep pace . Also , no interest paid for savings accounts , I guess they've got us where they want us !

What do you have to say about this, Barack Hussein??? The voting blocs that are your strongest supporters (blacks, poor people, Latinos, blue collar union workers) will be the hardest hit.
