One unhappy job is being a contract worker at Vanguard Financial!  They can pay out millions of dollars to their employees in bonuses such as today and bend over backwards for their employees yet they treat the contract workers like crap and won't hire them because they hire 85% of their people from inside the company!!!!  They say that they can't hire more people because of the economy, yet you can pay a huge bonus every year on 3 year average earnings??? They can't even put a contract workers name on their cube.  Now how bad is that????? Bill McNabb is one of the worst CEO"s that Vanguard has ever had. Only if William Bogle was back at the helm!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to know "how" the employees of this study were asked to rate 10 factors that affect workplace happiness.  I used to work for a company that had employees fill out a Top 10 Companies to Work For form.  It was suppose to be anonymous.  The only thing anonymous about it was that they didn't have to write their name on the paper.  People from HR, their supervisor and sometimes their manager were in the room while they were filling out the form and then collecting them.  Ever since then, I doubt the credibility of most lists

What about the military?  I'm pretty sure that a lot of them aren't too happy, since they keep killing themselves.

I am unemployed, did pizza delivery, now a software engineer, basically it all sucks, so I am not eager to become a slave again, but when I do work again, I hope it is a software engineer.

I have a good job that I love. The worst part about my job is the fear that I may lose it.
I work between 60 and 80 hours a week without OT pay. I don't take vacations that are longer than 2 days in a row because I'm afraid that my absence will mean that work will get passed on to others. I've actually lost vacation time that I've accrued because I'm over the max I can save.

I'm tired, but I have to survive.

The worst job I ever had was counting food stamps and coupons for a grocery store chain. At least it beats Walmart, who has security detail watching you 24/7 and letting the managers know everyihing you do wrong. Yes, the security staff recommends moving around the cameras and all you have to do is look up to tell where they are this week. Can't imagine selling my soul to watch employees use their cell phones, pick their noses, and the big payoff is when they fillup their drink cup twice at the soda fountain, which the customers do all day long.

What exactly is a Program Manager? There is nothing supporting any of these claims.

Any "customer service" job is the worst. You spend your entire day trying to "please" the customer so you can continue to have a job. And what about those customers? Heaven help you if you DEPEND ON tips to survive! READ YOUR PIZZA BOX!!!!  " Any delivery fee charged is not a tip paid to your driver. Please reward your driver for their awesomness". I absolutely hate all who do not tip! Your day will come. I spend no less than $100 a week on gas, oil changes EVERY six weeks due to excessive miles. Not to mention brakes twice a year, tires and front end alignments once  year. Heaven help you if any thing else goes wrong with your vehicle.

SO, THE NEXT TIME YOU ORDER OUT, BE GRATEFUL SOMEONE IS THERE TO BRING YOU YOUR FU**ING FOOD AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR DRIVER/WAITER/WAITRESS!!

I am a security guard and I can tell you that spending 8-16 mind numbing hours on your feet is no "walk in the park."  I have to check every office on 28 floors in a suit and tie after hours when the building a/c is off.  It takes close to three and a half hours to do it and that follows the four previous hours I spentd on my feet opening/closing doors for the guests and tenets in the building.  I get paid $10.58/hr and I have to work at least two double shifts in a two week period just to get close to a $1000 pay check so I can pay my $973 mortgage.  Trust me, it sucks!

The unhappiest job I ever had was with Cook's Pest Control.  They forced long hours and gave little pay, and no vacation.  We were also treated like dirt and had threats thrown at us every day.  The Wednesday morning meeting was especially horrible.  It started out with "here are the rules, and if you don't like it, there's the door".  The meeting went down hill from there.

How about fast-food worker? After losing my career in the airline industry and unsuccessful at finding an aerospace related job (which I went to school for) I landed at a fast food restaurant which is, by far, the worst job I have ever had.
