Did Mitt Romney just blow the election?
Comments caught on video reveal that the GOP candidate thinks half of Americans are losers. This is an utter disaster for his campaign.
You can mark my prediction now: A secret recording from a closed-door Mitt Romney fundraiser, released Monday by David Corn at Mother Jones, has killed Mitt Romney's campaign for president.
On the tape, Romney explains that his electoral strategy involves writing off nearly half the country as unmoveable Obama voters. As Romney explains, 47 percent of Americans "believe that they are victims." He laments: "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
So what's the upshot? "My job is not to worry about those people," he says. He also notes, describing President Obama's base, "These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax."
This is an utter disaster for Romney.
Romney already has trouble relating to the public and convincing people he cares about them. Now, he's been caught on video saying that nearly half the country consists of hopeless losers.
Romney has been vigorously denying President Obama's claims that his tax plan would raise taxes on the middle class. Now, he's been caught on video suggesting that low- and middle-income Americans are undertaxed.
That one is especially problematic, given the speculation about what's on his unreleased pre-2010 tax returns.
Corn tells us there are more embarrassing moments on segments of the video he hasn't released yet. Romney jokes that he'd be more likely to win the election if he were Hispanic. He makes some awkward comments about whether he was born with a "silver spoon" in his mouth.
But those are survivable. The really disastrous thing is the clip about "victims," and the combination of contempt and pity that Romney shows for anyone who isn't going to vote for him.
Romney is the most opaque presidential nominee since Nixon, and people have been reduced to guessing what his true feelings are. This video provides an answer: He feels that you're a loser. It's not an answer that wins elections.

No conspiracy here, political candidates need to be careful what they say anywhere there is another person present. This has gone on forever, it just so happens we live in a world where there are no secrets if you are technically inclined.
Oh, BTW, did you hear what Obama said about the 1%? Gotcha!
I don't like that MSN seems to be taking a polical stand here. I don't think Romney used the word loser in his secret taping. Isn't it against the law to tape someone without their knowledge. If your one of the losers who don't pay income tax & property tax then vote for OBAMA.
My neighbor lost his job 4 years ago due to the construction downturn. He was living off of unemployment for a couple years and during that time he started to drink heavy and become depressed. His wife left him and things got even worse. He would drink beer all day and smoke cigarettes. His home and yard deteriorated. He became ill and ended up in the hospital. His received a mortgage bailout and is now on permanent disability all paid for by the taxpayer. He is now back to drinking, smoking and provides zero contribution to society. He is a perfect example of what Romney is talking about. Obama's programs have greatly contributed to ruining this mans life. Obama does these things just to get these people to vote for him and in the process their lives are destroyed with no hope for the future. This is our leader. Wow.
The 99% American People, don't like or trust him, his corruption shows right through his face, HE CAN'T HIDE IT! His STUPIDITY is ONLY EXCEEDED by his IGNORANCE!
Jobs were & still are not the campaign! What IS the campaign is the UNREST of the UNEQUAL DISTRIBUTION of the wealth! 23% of the wealth for the 99% American People and 77% of the wealth to the ONE-PERCENTERS & their VACATIONING CEO'S living a LIFE OF LUXURY while the 99% have been driven into ENSLAVEMENT in THEIR OWN COUNTRY!
This is the REAL ISSUE, anything else said, is pure BULL$HIT!! Nothing more, nothing less!
It's time for BIG CHANGE, and that time is NOW! Not later, but RIGHT NOW!
Romney will probably win (60/40 odds), but whether he does or not, the media will only slightly affect the outcome. All their credibility is gone, especially after the past 3 weeks, and the string of imaginary gaffes they constructed for Romney.
oh just to clarify it's actually 49% majority of parasites and leeches the taxpayers have to support while they sit around watching trash tv all day long!!, so Pres Romney did make a mistake when he said 47% well, we can't all be perfect now can we barro!!
The TRUTH scorches the marxist liberal azz! EVERYTIME!!
