Did Mitt Romney just blow the election?

Comments caught on video reveal that the GOP candidate thinks half of Americans are losers. This is an utter disaster for his campaign.

You can mark my prediction now: A secret recording from a closed-door Mitt Romney fundraiser, released Monday by David Corn at Mother Jones, has killed Mitt Romney's campaign for president.

On the tape, Romney explains that his electoral strategy involves writing off nearly half the country as unmoveable Obama voters. As Romney explains, 47 percent of Americans "believe that they are victims." He laments: "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

So what's the upshot? "My job is not to worry about those people," he says. He also notes, describing President Obama's base, "These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax."

This is an utter disaster for Romney.

Romney already has trouble relating to the public and convincing people he cares about them. Now, he's been caught on video saying that nearly half the country consists of hopeless losers.

Romney has been vigorously denying President Obama's claims that his tax plan would raise taxes on the middle class. Now, he's been caught on video suggesting that low- and middle-income Americans are undertaxed.

That one is especially problematic, given the speculation about what's on his unreleased pre-2010 tax returns.

Corn tells us there are more embarrassing moments on segments of the video he hasn't released yet. Romney jokes that he'd be more likely to win the election if he were Hispanic. He makes some awkward comments about whether he was born with a "silver spoon" in his mouth.

But those are survivable. The really disastrous thing is the clip about "victims," and the combination of contempt and pity that Romney shows for anyone who isn't going to vote for him.

Romney is the most opaque presidential nominee since Nixon, and people have been reduced to guessing what his true feelings are. This video provides an answer: He feels that you're a loser. It's not an answer that wins elections.

Wow this guy is a loser.  Best thing Romney ever said so far.  Its the truth and the 47% of the population who are sitting back and collecting off our hard earned money can  just got back to work if they don't want to be called a "loser".  No wait a minute its too easy to get up every morning at what 10 or 11 o'clock go shopping with your food stamps send your kids to school where we feed them breakfast and lunch and on and on and on.  Dear Obama wants us to be a socialist state and all be on the dolel  Obama's Dream.  One term is more than enough!

Ha, poetic justice.  47% is an appalling figure for low income, unemployed / underemployed paying no federal income tax.  And it's so high due to the economic meltdown fueled by Wall Street corruption, greed and under-regulation.  So if these victims of the meltdown don't want more of the same, who's fault is that?  Neither party has a credible plan to deal with the deficit, so guess I'll go with spending on infrastructure, education and science instead of more tax cuts for the wealthy.

With President Obama "whispering" to the Russian ambassador that he will be able to do much more for Putin once the chumps re-elect him and now this with Romney, these guys should take lessons from "Goodfellas" and whisper with their hands to their mouths or in cars with the radios on.   Better yet, SHUT UP!!!!

If I had any doubts about voting for Romney, I dont now. FINALLY he framed the major election issue that captures the essence of differences between the candidates. A choice between takers and makers. I only regret he didnt and doesnt take a more right in your face approach with the chronic lying practiced each day by the democrats. Seen Susan Rice, Wasserman Shultz lately-just to name a couple.

The democratic campaign IS largely supported by takers and slackers. That includes all the Washington polticians that have never had a real job, had to hire, train, fire, meet a payroll etc..

I hope the repubs soon enough take off the gloves and be willing to get down and dirty anywhere just short of illegality although the dems seem to have the inside track on making it easy to vote illegally and steal elections.

I believe Romney will win. Many of my democratic friends who have children and granchildren are concerned about their future and have told me they are voting for Romney but not publiclly admitting to it. The same thing that happened in WIsconsin-union members crossed over but wouldnt admit it.

$16 trillion and counting. Obama is rght about one thing-it is simple math.

NOTE: I am an independent and have an equal amount of disdain for Boehner, McConnell and the other spineless members that have stood aside and let our country go down the tubes. Anyone interested should study the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. You will be schocked at the similiarities between their demise and the U.S. Change the names and you wold be hard pressed to not believe it is about the USA, especially the account of how they broke the treasury voting entitlements to stay in office.

We all can't be rich.  I have been paying taxes since i was 16 now at 41 i worked hard to get to and stay in the middle class.  Now your going to raise taxes on the middle class (me).  Just when I am getting ahead.  I am not the only one either there are a lot of people out there in the same boat as me. Sure us middle class slobs talk about people who don't pay their way but Romney's supposed plan puts me back where i started.  Reallity nobody is going to walk into office and fix it but me I will take the devil i know over the devil I don't.

Romney speaks the truth.  I am not offended by his words, but by those who spend generation after generation on food stamps and welfare; those men who father child after child and take not responsiblity for supporting them; for folks coming here for a better life but not doing so legally, and still getting welfare and at the same time won't even learn the English language; the list goes on and on.  My grandparents came from what was then Yugoslavia; with just a few belongs.  Learned English, loved this country, and had eight children and supported them to adulthood with NO help from the government.  Sometimes, the truth hurts.

Many of our mothers and fathers work 2 jobs to support their family and they pay taxes. Why should these good people pay for illegals and leeches. Most of us are just sick of Obama,Hillary, and the rest of their leeches in government and community organizing. "who ever this so called msn money partner is" He is the fool for writing this rot "

This kind of spying and public release of tapes obtained in secrecy without the concent or knowledge of the person is illegal, just like the Watergate scandal was back in Nixons time.

Hey everybody, that's the real truth the Mittster said on the tape.  That is what he really thinks!  Not surprised, he only tells the truth behind closed doors to his rich aristocratic donors.  He comes out in front of the American people and "lies".  I wish he was Pinochio, wow, what a honker he would have.  Good luck Elmer Fudd, and little Eddie Munster, we see what you stand for!!

But is is true... many people just keep on feeeling sorry for themselves.. and Big goverment is paying them to be poor and unemployeed. Enough of that.... I agree with Romney! I don't see any fault on saying the truth...however I see major fault on spying... and releasing of tapes... True journalists ask the questiionn and search for the information...dont sneak around, releasing tapes...Shame on some journalist.

Actually Mitt Romney is SPOT ON!!!!

Obama has to go!!!! And lets face it, food stamps (corrupt), health care (corrupt)... Fake disability claims, fake unemployment claims, dead beats etc etc etc..

Yes some are legit.. but guess what???? Clinton fed off the emotions of the poor and Obama is doing the same. Mean while, the middle class is getting squeezed by LIARS like OBAMA...

At least Romney was honest and he is right.. he won't get their vote so why try? The media just beat him down no matter what he says. The liberal media wants Obama so they do whatever they can to win.. LIBERALS ARE LIARS AND HYPROCRITES!!!!

The problem is Romney only opens his mouth to change feet. Imagine what he would be like shooting off at the mouth as POTUS! Forget, Russia ... with Romeny insulting everyone, the UK would probably nuke us.
