Did Mitt Romney just blow the election?

Comments caught on video reveal that the GOP candidate thinks half of Americans are losers. This is an utter disaster for his campaign.

You can mark my prediction now: A secret recording from a closed-door Mitt Romney fundraiser, released Monday by David Corn at Mother Jones, has killed Mitt Romney's campaign for president.

On the tape, Romney explains that his electoral strategy involves writing off nearly half the country as unmoveable Obama voters. As Romney explains, 47 percent of Americans "believe that they are victims." He laments: "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

So what's the upshot? "My job is not to worry about those people," he says. He also notes, describing President Obama's base, "These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax."

This is an utter disaster for Romney.

Romney already has trouble relating to the public and convincing people he cares about them. Now, he's been caught on video saying that nearly half the country consists of hopeless losers.

Romney has been vigorously denying President Obama's claims that his tax plan would raise taxes on the middle class. Now, he's been caught on video suggesting that low- and middle-income Americans are undertaxed.

That one is especially problematic, given the speculation about what's on his unreleased pre-2010 tax returns.

Corn tells us there are more embarrassing moments on segments of the video he hasn't released yet. Romney jokes that he'd be more likely to win the election if he were Hispanic. He makes some awkward comments about whether he was born with a "silver spoon" in his mouth.

But those are survivable. The really disastrous thing is the clip about "victims," and the combination of contempt and pity that Romney shows for anyone who isn't going to vote for him.

Romney is the most opaque presidential nominee since Nixon, and people have been reduced to guessing what his true feelings are. This video provides an answer: He feels that you're a loser. It's not an answer that wins elections.

It's time to John Gault these Washington psychopaths.

Pull your capital, stop working (officially), get out to small towns/rural areas, and thereby cutoff the progressive bloodsuckers ability to screw you anymore.  Life and civilization always goes on.  Just in a more realistic and sustainable way.

Be nice to the little people for there are many many out there. The little people are the ones that do the crap work and just barely get by so you rich boys can have all that you do. You pay low wages and sell for big profits. If the little man tries or wants a raise you simply move to another country and pay even cheaper wages for even a bigger profit and still get bigger tax breaks

85% of Bush Tax Cuts Went to Middle Class, Not the Rich

Bush tax cuts: $544.3 billion…The bulk of that cost - $463 billion - is for the extension of cuts for families making less than $250,000, including two years of relief for 2010 and 2011 for the middle class from the Alternative Minimum Tax.

Romney's right. Obama's counting on getting re-elected by people who are sucking off of the teat of big government and looking for more entitlements. I don't think this comment is going to hurt Romney at all. It's just a prime example of really bad, cheap journalism aiming to fuel people who can't think critically.

You libs are so clueless. There is nothing controversial about this, period. You twist it and take it out of context to fit your own hysteria. Obama would say exactly the same thing about the "other 47%" if he were talking to his top supporters. It would be the same if he were talking about blacks. 97% of blacks are going to vote for Obama, so Romney is not going to spend a lot of time and energy trying to change the vote of black people. Is it controversial to say that? Hell, no. It is called smart campaigning. He is saying that his campaign is targeted at the undecided 6-10%. DUH!!!! So is Obama's campaign.

Funny, this article doesn't want to talk about the utter contempt and disgust Obama showed for all businessmen and businesswomen in this country with his disastrous "you didn't build that" speech.  If that speech didn't cost Obama the election (which it may well have), then this one didn't do it for Romney, either.

And the final point, the fact that OBama got elected at all in 2008 proves that this country is indeed full of about 47% losers, because they voted for that incompetent, arrogant socialist!

 Figure it out, idiot liberals.

Only the media and numb-nuts libs think this.

Most of the posts I've read say that Mitt hit the nail on the head and didn't say anything that most people aren't thinking anyway.

Way to go, media. You've once again proven your bias and love for Obama. Now just go kiss his a** already.

So finally someone came in and said what the American people have been saying all along.  TOO many people are feeloading off of the USA and the people who pay OUTRAGEOUS taxes. Funny, the people who REALLY need the help get tossed aside while others work the system and get tons of aid.  My sister has been out of work for almost two years and just finally found work.  She applied for food stamps and was given $27 per month.  When she had to reapply she received a cut down to $16 per month. This is a person who took a low paying job while searching for work just to keep up her spirits and feel like she was contributing something.  Others are taking full unemployment, getting tons of food stamps and other aid.  I DONT GET IT.  Romney is 100% correct.  I am not against helping people but this country needs to start concentrating on creating jobs so that these people on aid work and contribute to the tax base. This will alleviate the tax burden to support all of these people and also add money to the tax base. People find it to comfortable staying on financial assistance, while in many instances make money off the books and wave around $100 bills, while I can barely keep a $20 in my wallet. GO ROMNEY! TELL IT LIKE IT IS! If all of you Liberals want to keep supporting all of these people indefinitely, raise your own taxes.....

Wow this guy is a loser.  Best thing Romney ever said so far.  Its the truth and the 47% of the population who are sitting back and collecting off our hard earned money can  just got back to work if they don't want to be called a "loser".  No wait a minute its too easy to get up every morning at what 10 or 11 o'clock go shopping with your food stamps send your kids to school where we feed them breakfast and lunch and on and on and on.  Dear Obama wants us to be a socialist state and all be on the dolel  Obama's Dream.  One term is more than enough!

Ha, poetic justice.  47% is an appalling figure for low income, unemployed / underemployed paying no federal income tax.  And it's so high due to the economic meltdown fueled by Wall Street corruption, greed and under-regulation.  So if these victims of the meltdown don't want more of the same, who's fault is that?  Neither party has a credible plan to deal with the deficit, so guess I'll go with spending on infrastructure, education and science instead of more tax cuts for the wealthy.

With President Obama "whispering" to the Russian ambassador that he will be able to do much more for Putin once the chumps re-elect him and now this with Romney, these guys should take lessons from "Goodfellas" and whisper with their hands to their mouths or in cars with the radios on.   Better yet, SHUT UP!!!!
