When I retired 8 years ago my health insurance was $400 a month. This year it is $800. When I retired 8 years ago gas was $1.83 a gallon it's down to $3.50 a gal where I live. When I retired 8 years ago cattle was selling for $.59 a pound. Last week cows sold for $1.10 a pound. my property taxes were $1,200 this year they were $1,600. But I'm not worried. The govmnt says there is no inflation and gave me 1.5% more SS to prove it. I'm only worried that there might be inflation in the future because I can't really afford the 0% we've had so far?

I will have to pay A LOT more for health insurance with Medicare than my employer's plan has cost - an increase of $3000 per year.
Beyond that, I won't save any money on lunches because I already eat at my desk. I already do any traveling in the middle of the week. I already take the time to research all major expenses to get the best price. I only drive 5 miles to work and I hope to go a lot more places after retiring so my car will get MORE wear and tear.
From my estimates the only expense that will go away is the $1000 parking decal I have to buy each year. All my other expenses will either stay the same or go up.
Moved to Florida for our retirement. Should have researched supermarkets before doing so. We're paying an average of 38% more for grocery items here than where we use to live which takes a big chunk out of our monthly retirement. The same goes for our co-pays which have been raised since retiring. This article makes it sound nice and rosy for everyone which it isn't.
