Last twelve years in FLORIDA !!!! About $1100.00 a month. Beautiful 1-family home, spotless area, walled sub-division. 2 swimming pools prof. maintained, 3 miles from the
Gulf of Mexico. Surrounded by malls, flea markets, theaters, med. services and all else.
And it's all in good old USA. HALLELUJA !!!!
Greetings from HUDSON, FL.
I'm doing it in Oakland CA for less than $2,000 monthly. How?
Strict money management. Live on cash-only basis. Cash only basis requires we stop
spending when genuine cash is gone. Stop using credit. P-u-s-h yourself to pay bills
when first received and in full to avoid installment forwards. Learn to enjoy the 'Poor
People of Paris" song of long long ago, i.e. "sing and dance all day long". Eat pasta,
rice, potato, egg dishes continuously for five days then produce foods for another five
days to avoid spending one more cent for seven days. Drink tap water and four cooked
cups of rice for a few days if necessary. IF THEY CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU, SO DO IT.
(Selecting a new condo closely accessible to restaurants isn't really a goldmine plan.)
An adult meat portion is 4-8 oz., not 48 ounces! Car insurance costing $2500+ a year?
Too much in my books; drive an older auto and pay less than $800 a year! Turn off
electricity, gas, water and reduce Internet/phone bills too. Change leisure patterns and
spend much less. (Check the libraries for thrifty modern approaches to learning
experiences.) I once bought at the buck variety stores regularly; now I buy there
a few times YEARLY only; did that change the cash-flow! Who would have dreamed
we over-did-it there, yet I had. Trade real estate stature for dollar common sense. Seek
neighborhoods much cheaper than where you now live, then seek rentals that downsize
style greatly and see housing costs plummet causing you to gasp. WE DON'T STOP
SPENDING UNTIL WE MUST IN Almost ALL INSTANCES. You will sacrifice to save
in the case of housing: reduced safety, convenience, area, appearance and ambience
will be lowered but that puts dollars back in your pocket. Pets are a LUXURY, kids are
off-the-wall ($250,000 for 18 years of guardianship -- college costs not included in that
either), mates must be pampered and relatives appeased -- all which raise havoc with
budgeting, but STRICT BUDGETING accomplishes the 'impossible'. Don't indulge
family/friends again. Quit your vices, indulgences, preferences, comforts and
conveniences and you'll live adequately for less in Oakland CA, USA, where the
weather is delicious nine days out of ten, and no second language required (but the
lower you go, the more likely a second language will be very helpful).

Even those who don't like to shop are probably hitting the stores this month. Here's what to be on the lookout for and here's what to avoid.
