1) do not get married
2) do not have kids
3) do not retire in the U.S.
The ways things have been going for the middle class, retiring at all will mean you are rich.

I disagree with most of the places listed in this article. If money were absolutely no object, I wouldn't be in Massachusetts, New York or anywhere that I had to endure cold weather in retirement. If I want to ski, I can fly there and then fly back home where it's warm. For those who like the cold rather than the heat, enjoy it. For me, if I have to wear a coat and I'm not on the slopes, I have failed retirement. Give me Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, or the Gulf coast.
