BMW vs. Tesla: Compare the specs
The German automaker is working to be seen as an industry tech leader.

BMW and Tesla are competing for roughly the same type of drivers, analysts at Barclays said recently, so here's how the cars compare.
But the battle for market share is about more than just the specs — it's about BMW positioning itself as a tech leader to "out-rival premium peers such as Tesla, and investors will increasingly be willing to credit this leadership with higher multiples," the Barclays analysts said.
The BMW cars are displaying an intriguing focus on lightweight engineering, the analysts added.
Tesla shares dropped 7 percent after hours Wednesday. Adjusted earnings and sales beat views. But the company also revealed a big ramp-up in spending and continued constraints in the supply of batteries, which limits production.
