More Black Friday sales start Thursday
Sears plans to open its doors at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, even earlier than some of its largest competitors.

Retailers are more determined than ever to horn in on your Thanksgiving dinner, starting their Black Friday sales before or soon after you've consumed that big bird.
Sears announced that it will open its doors at 8 p.m. on Nov. 22 and keep them open for a whopping 26 hours, or until 10 p.m. on Black Friday, to accommodate its customers who sought more "flexible" shopping hours. The night owls will get door-busters at 10 p.m. and the early birds will get a second round of limited-quantity deals at 4 a.m.
Sears' decision to open its doors early probably has as much to do with the competition as it does with its customers. Toys R Us and Wal-Mart last year opened their doors at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively, on Turkey Day. Sears, meanwhile, was one of the holdouts, sticking to its 4 a.m. Friday start time.
Nobody, it seems, wants to be last in line for consumers' hard-earned dollars.
Department store rival Kohl's, for one, has said that its Black Friday sales will go live online at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and its stores will open at midnight on Thanksgiving. While many stores do offer many of their deals as early as Wednesday or Thursday, it's rare that a retailer announces these online deals, in part because stores want shoppers to come out to their locations, where they typically spend more on impulse buys.
Sears' sister company, Kmart, meanwhile, has been open on Thanksgiving Day for 21 years running and will continue to be, open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and then again from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. Friday.
In other shopping news, the Black Friday ad for RadioShack was leaked today, and hardware giant Lowe's provided a glimpse of 25 of its hottest Black Friday deals.
By this time next week, experts say, many of the largest stores will have released their ads, allowing shoppers to begin checking off which of the 20,000 estimated Black Friday sale items will make their list.

This thing with stores opening at 8pm on Thanksgiving or even 10pm.... is rediculous. I mean, dont the retailers know that their very own employees DO have families that they would like to spend the day with, and not spending it in the bed to get rest before working all night long? First of all, I personally think all the hype with Black Friday is just that,,, HYPE!... I believe the day is not a SALE day! I believe that everyother day is a RIP OFF DAY! Secondly, this may sound clique', but it is true. Why do we feel Christmas is ALL about getting or giving the biggest gift? Christmas is about spending time with families, Thanksgiving too. It's about being thankfull for what God has given us. Some of you may say Thanksgiving is not a religious day or a GOD day, but oh it is. When the pilgrams had the very first one, it was set to give thanks to GOD for what HE did for them. Will we ever get back to the "family" instead of the "dollar". Will we ever get to the day when we are more concerned about the family than the dollar we spend on the family? I pray one day we will get closer to the "family" than we are now.
I believe that Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and Easter the stores should be CLOSED there is no need for people to be pulled away from their familes. Besides you don't see the PEOPLE IN THE BIG OFFICES working just the worker bees. If they had to be in the stores working on those days the stores would be closed. Its sad that HOLIDAYs aren't meaningful any more its all about the money..
I won't be shopping on Thursday or Friday for that matter. I would rather pay full price then be in the middle of the chaos. Its dangerous and Ridiculous.
Well - I'm thankful I work at JCPenney because this year they are opening later on Friday than they did last year and we have the entire day off for Thanksgiving - they want to be known as America's favorite store and one way to become that is to treat their workers with the good old fashioned respect that so many companies have gotten away from......
people complane all they want to about the time the stores open . say what you wish but the olny way to change it is for people NOT to go. as long as stores make money they will open to serve you . so the way to change it. is simple dont go. if there are no sale then the people have spoken that is how it works. stores change you dont like it but you go back. its crazy to me people say these things should happen and there the first ones there. so the voice they say to what ever store they shop at is good job opening at a crazy time.
