5 stores with great return policies

If a purchase turns out to be a mistake or disappointment, some retailers make it a lot easier to make an exchange or get a refund.

I have always had a great experience with Target.  They can look up my purchase by my credit card to see what I paid for an item and if it is past the return time then they give me a store credit.  I do most shopping online and have never had an issue returning an item to the store even if the store doesn't stock that item.   Don't know where the other people shop but our store is great.  Maybe go online and send emails to customer service as it has worked with other stores for me.  Costco is also so easy to return to.  They don't even ask whats wrong they just give you a refund.  Seems while shopping there are too many grumpy people (clerks and customers) around no one is friendly anymore!

Target Stinks!!! How they are still in business is over and beyond me....

I agree target is very shady when it comes to returns. They'll give you a return for the price but the lowest price that item was EVER sold for during the year.

Wal-Mart should definitely be on the list, hell they take something as a return that you bought from Kmart

Who ever wrote this article needs to go to Target and return an item

without a receipt and see what happens. Target is the worst just ahead

of Sears. Dana Dratch needs to do some research before she writes

a ridiculous article like this. I refuse to shop at Target for this reason.

I was surprised recently when I tried to return a $3.00 bag of curtain hooks to Walmart.  I had my receipt and didn't realize I was a few days past the cut off.  The clerk didn't offer me store credit or anything.  Basically, she said tough luck toots.  I still shop in Walmart, but not nearly as much.  I always had so many receipts from that store that I would sometimes misplace one and not find it right away.  My house is in a state of renovation - a work in progress - and I used to buy paint, brushes, etc. at Walmart, but now I buy them at a home store with a better return policy.

Target should not be on the list....PERIOD.  I don't shop there anymore because of their unfriendly returnpolicy.  Nordstrom is by far the very best.

I no longer shop Target, either.  They are horrible to deal with and the service desk staff always treat you like a criminal if you don't have a receipt.

Target never allows you to return anything, they are known for not allowing people to return things. How you got them on this list is amazing, someone fooled you.

I have never had a problem returning anything to Target with or without a receipt. Anything that I have sent out of town to various relatives - if needed to be returned - was accepted by Target and they were given a full refund. I don't know why so many people elsewhere have had so much of a problem - I suggest calling the main office or complaining on twitter as that gets their attention fast! And give the stores that are not accepting returns as they should!!

Kohls and Carsons should both be on this list.

Walmart certainly should be on the list.....I have returned a number of things over a long period, including electronics, and never once was there ever a problem or question.

Although I always mention if it is faulty or a mistake, without being asked. Fast and easy !!

Target has a horrible return policy!  They have a $100 limit without a receipt even on their own products.  I had a baby shower and people bought things from Target and if they didn't include a gift receipt and I needed to return duplicates I was out of luck!  This was pretty easy given a bumper set was $50 and their line of clothes anywhere between $5-25!

I have avoided BEST BUY after a friend found herself beib charged a "restock" fee for a returned item.

I too have had great succcess with AMAZON returns,..and also with replacement of items they had a delivery statement from UPS, but the item was never received   (onlt  twice in many years).

I took a pair of men's shoes back to Nordy's about twenty years ago; and they took them back, marked them, and put them in the trash.  I asked why the store didn't donate them to a shelter and was told, "We used to do that, but we got a lot of homeless people coming in to return the donated shoes for a refund and of course we had to take them because that was the policy."

Target has one of the worst return policies and does NOT belong on this list.  There is no concern on Target's part when customer complaints about returns arise, and any such information to the contrary is deceptive to the public.  I certainly do not shop there and encourage others to choose a store that is consumer oriented and more liberal regarding returns.  You will have a much better experience if you avoid Target.

TARGET ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BE ON THIS LIST!!!!!!  I tried to take a pair of jeans back that were the "merona" brand..obviously from TARGET.  My daughter had received them as a gift, so no receipt was available.  She wore them once, sat down and the Jeans ripped, not at a seam, but right in the middle of the back side and they weren't  "too small".  Target would not take them back, I escalated to manager...then to general manager and they gave me the headquarter's number to call.......  I called, waited a long time in their que  and finally got a human being..however, not from this country...I heard  "Hilo Mum, this is "David" howl keen i hilp you?"...hmmmm what country was this call outsourced to???  ............He continued to say the same thing over and over again............... "I sowree mum, dere ees nutteeng I keen doo fur you".  I escalated to his supervisor and was told the same thing..  I was SOOOOOOOOO  ANGRY  I just wanted to scream in the middle of the store!!!    My red hot anger made target shirts look PINK

KOHLS should definitely be on this list! They have the BEST return policy and customer service! I shop there more because I don't have to worry if I changed my mind or if something shrinks. They stand behind what they sell. How Target got on this list is beyond me!

They forgot Home Depot. These people will take anything back! They are huge and I mean Huge into customer service. If they don't take it back then its something so nasty and over used that it should be in the trash anyway. This company will take back a dead tree up to a year after its bought! All you have to do is bring in the root ball if you cant bring in the whole tree. It amazes me how nice they are. Home Depot rocks!!!!
