Do franchisor's generally forbid, in contract, the buying of another franchise from a different company?   Would KFC, for example, care if I bought a McDonald's franchise?

1: It's not your personality that makes a great fit in a business, it's your skills and what drives you.

2: When choosing a franchise you absolutely must choose one based on your skills and culture NOT on products you like to sell. Remember most likely you will not be working in the business forever, you will want to work ON the business.

3: To choose a franchise take the right first step and identify strengths and driving markers.

4: The best test for this looks like it was designed in 1992 however the report at the end is extremely detailed. (it's here: http://ezeeprofiles.com/?bestfranchisefit)

I've spent 23 years in the franchise sector - both inside franchise companies, as a supplier to the industry, and as a consultant and even broker (sales of new units)...... I am here to comment that there are, by far, a significantly larger number of well run, proven, quality franchise business opportunities available today than there are scams or otherwise bad investments to make. A well-informed, well-educated, well-researched individual will find a host of brilliant executives running these organizations, proven business models, happy and profitable franchisees and solid growth opportunity. That does not mean all franchise investments are good ones - It means a wise consumer can diversify his portfolio, build equity with a growing brand, and earn a good income while enjoying more freedom than from a day-job. This is just the truth. A visit to the IFA website and other worthwhile sites can start a smart investigation for  a savvy investor, or curious prospect. Mariel Miller

In addition to the obvious lack of imagination on each of these, has anyone noticed that ALL of these "franchises" fail to actually PRODUCE anything?

So lets say I own a home healthcare company - I emply ie. 20 people..... with Obama care I'll almost double my operating costs.....

in 1997 I started a company in my home. I hove no employee, no store front, no inventory, and per month I bring home just under eight thousand dollars. Im not rich but real happy because my income will never stop! even if I stop doing what I do, I will always see the income I have now, or more! I could use  a person down south and a person on the east coast! dont buy a Franchise! im not selling a franchise. I am giving you a chance to own your own business.

Golden parachutes are what most retired government workers get. They call them COLA's in RI a state that is bankrupt thanks to the give aways. When someone loses his house in RI it's not because of Wall Street it's thanks to the the "Neighborhood reinvestment act" that created the sub-prime market giving him a house he couldn't afford. Thanks ACORN for thinking it up and thanks Bill Clinton for signing it into law.

It makes me sick to hear all this political garbage, especially Mr. Romney telling how he STRUGGLED to start his own business. I'm shocked there weren't any opportunities to start your own venture capital business for a $50,000 investment.  To many people that $50,000 equates to a lifetime of saving because their father wasn't the CEO of a major car company with millionaire resources and connections  both socially and politically.  I'm very sure Mr. Romney never lost any sleep wondering whether his very life savings was on the line and whether he might lose his home or be able to feed his family if his start up business took a while to get running or at worst possibly fail. I  don't think Mr. Obama has all the answers, but how can anyone who has never worried whether their job might get shipped to China, or whether you might not have healthcare because the CEO needs to fund his golden parachute, have the gall to stand and say they understand what it is like to really struggle and work for a living. The middle class is rapidly disappearing  where a kid who either can't hack the college life, or his parents don't have the resources to assist, has too few options for a decent paying job with benefits. Even college grads come out  so far in debt for a job that pays $30,000 a year if they're lucky enough to find one. Talk to one of those people, and see if they think ole Mitt understands their struggle.

Most rich don't pay income tax. They pay capital gains on investments like Warren Buffet, that is why he is in favor of rasing income taxes----he doesn't have to pay it! The Buffet tax is projected to bring in 50 billion at best over the next 10 years while the dept is expected to increase 16.5 trillion. 16.5 trillion is 16,500 billion. Just a little short with rich paying a little more don't you think.

well if you think you can feed a family and live a basic life on less than $1500 a month than sure. i think it crazy to think that people can pay bills and save money when they are not making any money. for those who are making more than 1500 a month you are thinking that i im am going to inbetter my life with this kind of money put it to you this way even if was able to save a 100 dollars a month how long would it take me to have 10k thats a long time to save and thats a drop in the bucket for what you need to start your own business i hate to say this but making less than 15hr is unreallist and you will never get ahead paying rent and car payment  and the insurance for those things will eat you up first

True, you could go on your own without a franchise to start your business, but then you'd have to deal with the hassle of making all the mistakes that franchisors have already corrected for you. You'd have to spend so much time trying to figure out how to run your business instead of growing your business. With a franchise, you have the benefit of applying a proven business model and the support of experts who have done it before.

My biggest concern is with Obama Care.  The conversation about a panel appointed by the President TO DECIDE the fate of our senior citizens is terrifying!!!!  I don't think that we as Americans are truly considering the magnitude of this policy.  God willing, we will all be seniors at some point.  Forget about not liking your present doctor and calling your insurance company to make a change.  You will go where the government tells you to go!!!  Do you out there in the world truly understand that????? If not.... just go to your local Department of Motor Vehicles and look around.  That's what it will be like when you have to take your kid or your spouse to the doctor.  And if your aging mother or father has taken ill and "the panel" tells you there's nothing that can be done when you know that there truly is... but because this "person" cannot add to society in any way financially they just must go home and wait to die.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!  That will be our (YOURS AND MINE!) reality if Obama Care continues on it's journey... And the politicians don't care.  Why??  Because they are exempt!!

I'm not worried about the stupid people in the white house, i'm worried about the stupid people that put them in . How could any one vote for a person that said he has been to all 57 states except 1. some one that said we live in the greatest nation on earth and i need your vote, to change it, some one that can take time to go on the joe yo radio show, instead of telling the American people what really happened in bungasi, some one that hides behind Hillary Clintons skirt. Oduma is a phony and is taking our country so far down  , it will take decades to get the USA back to the greatest country on earth. Oh not to mention his promise of cutting the debt in half in his first term. Instead he doubled it. And he can't,t speak with out a teleprompter. and also he is a socialist. VOTE FOR ROMNEY
