Ironic isn't it that all ten are run by Democrats!  Tax the sh** out of people from the day they are born till the day AFTER they die. When are people gonna wake up?

More like the blue states have to get money to pay for their own socialist states.  I practically named every state in this list before I saw it.  I was shocked California wasn't on it.   I didn't expect much less from liberals/Democrats/progressives etc..  They think everything you have they should have a right to take and redistribute it to someone who didn't work for it in the first place.

All Liberal states... Shock me...  We're the Government and we'll let you know how much of your already taxed money we think it is fair for your heirs to keep when you die. The worst part is these high taxes prompt Northerners to move South,,,,, and then at the first chance they get, they vote for Liberals!! The very same knuckleheads whose policies they just moved away from! Thanks a lot!! Great thinking guys,,, you should have just stayed where you were...

You want to silence a Democrat?  Just ask how much taxes are enough.

Would someone please explain to me how any government can tax somebody for dying?  I just don't get the concept behind that.  Earning... sure.  Spending... perhaps.  Dying?  Being left behind by a loved one?  I'd love to hear how this tax arose in the first place.

The estate tax is the worst tax there is. How is it, you pay income tax (meaning ALL money after is post tax), then you pay sales tax, property tax (so you never really own your own property) capital gains tax and several other miscellaneous taxes dependent on your state only to have your earned money taxed on your death. For what??? Because you successfully survived and came out ahead. I love how they try make it not inclusive of all of us its just the rich guys so don't worry. Well 1 million is just a mediocre retirement fund if you invested your whole life.

I seriously ask "how can anyone vote for a democrat"....they have their hand in your pocket from birth to death and beyond....but the parasites, welfare people, illegal immigrants and stupid liberal do gooders will keep on voting.....this is pitiful.

Funny how the states with some of the highest taxes (excluding you, CA), are comprised of our original colonies that fought so hard against taxation.  Ok, so that was "taxation without representation", but you know what I mean.

You failed to mention that some state are "threshold" states. Like Massachusetts. That means that if you go over the allowed exemption, the state will go back to the first dollar of your estate and tax the whole thing, NOT merely the amount over the exemption. If your estate is $1,000,001 you've gone over the threshold and you are taxed based on the $1,000,001. And they count EVERYTHING in MA. Not only cash assets, but the clothes in your closet, your old furniture, your car, you name it. I'd be outta here if I could.
