Oops! $200 million tax refund was an error

Software error leads Ohio to notify 9,700 residents told they'd be getting big refunds. The problem has been fixed.

Ohio's tax department says a promise that it would send a woman a $200 million refund check was a mistake due to a software glitch.

The Sandusky Register reports that Denise Bossetti was among 9,700 taxpayers statewide who received Ohio Department of Taxation notices about mega-refunds. It's not clear if the other amounts were as big as what Bossetti was told to expect.

The woman from Huron, Ohio, was sent a letter dated Jan. 24 saying her $200 million refund could not be paid by direct deposit so she'd be sent a check.

Bossetti says she and her boyfriend had a "big laugh" over the letter.

Another dated a week later explained there'd been a software error.

Tax department spokesman Gary Gudmundson says the problem has been fixed.

Interest?  What country are you living in?  Bernake has seen to it that anyone with any amount of cash won't be making a dime in interest.

How would we pay for all of these illegal wars if we dont pay our taxes? How is our government going to do these bailouts and give our hard earned money to big business after they have already taken from us. The saying is never more true...nothing is sure in life except........Death and Taxes. Be wary of strong drink.  It can make you shoot at tax collectors... and miss.  ~Robert Heinlein

I assume you have to be a congressman to get away with lame excuses with the IRS.

IMHO any citizen that would work for this IRS is traitor to rest of the hard working people of America. This corrupt goverment organization should be banished and a flat sales tax put in its place. Every month I have to give these greedy thugs a portion of my paycheck, then at the end of the year they want more??? Inheritance tax is perhaps the most digusting way we are taxed. We suffer the loss of someone close, they want to pass onto us what they have worked hard for and left behind and there is the IRS with their filthy paws out profiting from a death.

If you work for the IRS you are a pig.
