When are we going to end the fiasco that started in 1913 with the passage of the progressive income tax?  We now have a system that allows politicians to willfully discriminate among US citizens to cater to their voting blocks.  The tax system should only be used to raise revenue to run the consitutional based activities of the government, not to shape the behavior of the populace or redistribute wealth.

Let's end this now and replace it with a system that treats every individual US citizen equally under the law and provides equal access any service offered by the federal government to every US citizen.

This will eliminate the politicians ability to curry favor with their voting blocks through the use of the tax code, greatly simplify the code itself, reduce the size of the IRS and other parts of the government, and eliminate at least one facet of discrimination in the US law.

This isn't new advice, but it is amazing how many people don't take it.  I have had years where I had 0 tax after using using a lot of this advice.  I have to admit as an avid watcher of Suze Orman the best way to handle your finances is get term life insurance from a place like LifeAnt, and save the difference (from whole life for the unwashed masses jk  ;) ) in a retirement account. I started doing this about 4 years ago and now I have over 30K in my roth!
