Here is the truth of what is going to happen.  Tax return season is big business for retail of all types. Because all these credits and breaks are going away, people are going to have less money they depend on to spend.  Less money to spend means less revenue and profit for business. Less revenue means less jobs.  Less jobs mean more welfare and unemployment give out.  More welfare and unemployment means taxes have to be raised.  This is a downward spiral of an economy.

If you also look at this from a different perspective, who do people tend to vote for if they are on welfare? Democrats because they cater to them with all of the free stuff, (phones, food stamps, ect...) What it looks like to me is the democratic party is trying to create a larger number of voters for themselves.

Let's raise that minimum wage so people can earn a "living wage"!!!  Yeh right.  So the Feds can get a bigger piece of the pie.  Face it, with this government, the harder you work, the behinder you get!!!  Our government punishes productivity and independence, and rewards dependence and servitude.  Pretty soon the country will be divided into kingdoms with a rich person having lordship over a mass of serfs, dependent on and beholding to them for scraps of bread.  I don't know what else you would call it when a few people have accumulated all the nation's wealth and the general population are forced to survive by catering to their every whim.  We appear to be going full speed backward into the Middle Ages!!!

This is just the latest round of OBAMA screwing us without so much as a "may I?". Twenty-three new taxes in Obamacare, levied almost entirely on the middle class, now this crap which could have been renewed if Obama had any intent to work in a bi-partisan way.

And Obama is not the lone culprit, EVERY Democrat in the Senate and House shares in the responsibility for this whole situation. Reid, Pelosi and Obama said jump, and they replied, How high? And Reid and Obama are still at it. Since Democrats refuse to override Reid, and keep reelecting him to Senate Leader, they MUST share the blame.

House GOP have passed dozens of bills to restart the economy, lower taxes without ever even mentioning Obamacare and they still refuse to allow a vote in the Senate because they want more spending, HOW INSANE IS THAT ????????????????

VOTE OUT EVERY DEMOCRAT IN 2014 and 2016 and give the GOP a shot at it, and if they mess it up also, Time for a Second Revolutionary War ! ! ! ! !

"" Single persons who don't purchase health insurance will now have to pay a tax ""

ITS NOT A TAX!!!!!!!!!

Taxes don't tax inactivity,  taxes tax ACTIVITIES.....   A tax  can only happen when a person does something..... earn an income, purchase some gas, purchase some cigarettes, etc.

Its NOT a tax if I've done nothing!!  I can't be taxed for simply existing,  ITS A PENALTY.

its just the SCOTUS has chosen to call a penalty a tax as the only way to make BarryCare legal.

It's only going to get worse when you live in a country where the elate in congress are reelected year after year. They lose any connection with reality.

Paying taxes to the Fed on taxes paid to the state for income taxes is double taxing.  Illegal. or it used to be before they threw out the Constitution of the U.S.

Did anyone hear the latest developments concerning the ACA? Aetna is strongly considering pulling out of the exchanges or imposing a DOUBLE DIGIT increase to premiums for the next year. This decision will occur around mid March which just happens to be the critical dead line for Obamacare's continued existence or death spiral.

If you want to change this, you have to vote out your incumbents in Nov. 2014. I know you might personally like them in your state but if you keep sending the same people to represent you to congress( like Pelosi, Reid, ect...) you're going to continue to get the same inaction/infighting/ political grand standing; and nothing will change for you.

Yes- we all need affordable health insurance but this ACA has had the exact opposite effect. Better start writing your congressperson now and let them know that if this isn't resolved soon, that we'll (Mr. & Mrs. registered voter) send someone to congress who will.

With Obama More and More people are bending over and getting raped by the tax man, not just that but everything is costing you more, and all along he is laughing and lying.... this guy will go down as the biggest enemy ever of the middle class worker.

I give it two years and there will be a significant downward spiral of the economy. This will create another housing issue and credit issue but will be much tougher since it will effect most everyone except those who have the means to sidestep it. Watch for another country trying to maneuver some sort of pressure to gain a majority in the way of land or buildings. Except now it will be detrimental.  Very interesting times and could be scary at some point as well.

just remember you dont have to pay the obamcare tax.. they can ask you to pay but cant force you to.  do any of these taxes hit the middle class???? looks like they do hit most of the middle class , but I thought the tax increases were only for the evil rich ... my god did obama lie again?  you idiots voted this moron back into control again???? what were you thinking ? oh yes you were not thinking you were voting against the evil rich and not for anything good    too bad it is now your fault for the taxes and crap we now have

This country is in serious trouble. It really has nothing to do with politicians. Corporations run the U.S.. They own the politicians, and thus, get what they want. Raising pay would only further devalue the dollar by requiring the Fed to create more dollars. It also would create more tax revenue, but with lower dollar value, tax money and indeed your money would have less value. Prices would go up, and our quality of life would continue its downward trend. If cost of living does not come down, we will enter a depression. Corporations need to adjust profits to a reasonable level and lower prices accordingly. Corporate tax loopholes should be tightened. The greed at the top will eventually topple all of us, even them. Washington needs a complete retooling of leadership. I wouldn't advise voting for any incumbents. That is about the only hope we have for any type of financial security.

"Another issue is the ongoing economic weakness"

What the hell????? A journalist dared to intimate that there is no economic recovery...????? That the economic situation of the country is NOT positive...????? (I think I just collapsed a lung.) This goes against every economic propaganda article (of which there are a lot) that the media puppets have been shoveling lately. Imagine... the economy is in bad shape... Well I'm going to have to re-think everything now.

Mafia looking pretty good!  That's why the Gov. takes them out of business.  They have been labeled as thugs in movies because, they came for thier protection money . How is that different from taxes the Gov. comes after to pay for corrupt cops?  Bad cops retire with benefits, crooked mafia men disappeared.
