Taxes on wages (in any form – flat or progressive) are the greatest evil of our American Republic. When government is free to steal from you, there are no limits to waste and abuse in government. If a person chooses to work extra hours or two jobs in order to better provide for themselves or their family, they should not be penalized, but that is what happens. The more you make by working harder and longer, the more money is stolen from you, and given to those who spend their lives living off the hard work of others.

The revenue the government needs to provide legitimate constitutional services should be obtained primarily from a national sales tax instead of a tax on wages. All would pay based on consumption, the more you spend the more you pay. The more luxury you surround yourself with, the more you pay. Your choice. A national sales tax system would capture money spent by criminals and by illegal aliens who currently pay near zero in taxes. There would of course need to be exemptions: Cars (already have a federal excise tax) Primary Residence/Rental Properties (vacation homes would be subject to tax/rental profit would be taxed) Fresh Food (Preprocessed foods and prepared meals would be taxed – only fresh/fresh frozen/canned goods would be exempt) Insurance Premiums, Health Care & Certified Education.

Adding another layer of tax to a business would not be fair. Businesses would need to be compensated by keeping a portion of the tax to cover the expense of collection and reporting. A percentage of .20 to .05 would be fair.

Taxes are only a small part of the problem, I am self employed, many of my friends are self employed as well.  Running a business can be difficult at times but the most difficult part of it is, and all of my fellow business owners have agreed, finding good employees.  The majority of young people are lazy and spoiled by mommy and daddy.  When I was a kid all of my friends had jobs, grocery store clerks or mowing lawns, raking leaves, shoveling snow we all worked.  Now you can't pry kids away from their cell phones, video games and shopping malls.  I am approaching 40 years old, along with many of my friends and we are having retired folks asking us if we are able to help them do odd jobs such as raking leaves, mowing lawns and shoveling snow because they can't find a kid to do work.  For those of you who think the government is bad now, run by the former dope smoking, stoner hippies of the 60's, wait until these spoiled lazy kids of today get older and are running the country.

The bigger the hive, the greater the waste and the tighter the control our government (if you can call it that) must wield over the worker bees. Ted Kaczynski realized this way back in the 70's and tried to call it to everyone's' attention, but unfortunately he went about it the wrong way.  Now the machine has him locked up where he can never "bother" any of us again with his CRAZY ideas. You seen the Matrix? Well real life is worse. You think you have freedom? You think you can control your own life? Think again bumblebee.

We are headed in the wrong direction as a society and a nation.  I'm very sad to see this happen to our country!  What I see happening are the issues revolutions are made of.  We do have many people aware of what's going on and there are so many more of us than their are of them.  I do greave for the old principles we once live under.  For the people and by the people!

Get yourself a good CPA.  Do not use agencies like H&R Block and others like them.  All these companies do is rush your tax preparation and collect your money.  A good CPA will take the time to prepare your tax return and get you the most deductions possible.  Getting a refund is not good because it means you overpaid your taxes during the year.  People mistakenly believe this is a good thing, but it isn't.

Holy Sh#%  people, after reading these posts, you need to get a grip, on your lives. Things aren't that bad. Just remember two things, and you and your family, will be ok!!

#1.. The government will feed you, house you, protect you, make sure that your health needs are taken care of, and bury you.

#2.. Keep your cell phone bill paid.

See now, things aren't really all that bad, are they??

Before making ridiculous comments or statements try walking in the shoes of others. When you have worked at a job for 5 or more years with a perfect work record and the company you work for decides to save money by outsourcing your job and the jobs of 50 to 80% of your company to India, and you are handed a pink slip and you immediately go out to try to find another job and are told 1000 times you are overqualified, underqualified, not the right cultural fit, discriminated against for whatever reason (not white, too old, a woman). You have a family that must eat, you have rent or a mortgage that needs to be paid, and your health insurance was cut off when you were laid off.  Kids get sick and you have to take them to the doctor. The unemployment in your state barely pays several hundred dollars a week, and because of the sequester your unemployment amount is further reduced twice. Then you are told that your unemployment will be cut off after 8 or 9 months because congress thinks you are too lazy to get a job and don't want to work, and that you just don't know the value of good hard work. Then congress cuts your food stamps. The only bit of nourishment that your kids could have while you are desperately looking for a job.  You are at a point where there are no safety nets, your kids are crying because they are hungry, your landlord wants the rent, or your mortgage lender is ready to foreclose and take your house. You are now at a point of trying to figure out how the lights stay on, how the gas doesn't get turned off to avoid having to pay a fee to turn it back on.

Taxes give us a safety net, when we work hard and due to no fault of our own are laid off. Luckily our healthcare is partially resolved. Not perfect, but a better system than we had previously. If you lose your job, you can get good coverage at a reasonable price. When you are looking for work, it is for two things, money and healthcare. Since my layoff, I bought a Blue Cross Blue shield Silver family plan in Georgia that covers me, my wife, and two daughters. The plan costs only $312 per month and has a $500 individual deductible or $1000 family deductible and only $1000 out of pocket. After we pay $1000, all of our treatment and medications are free. No Co-pay.  The Affordable Care Act provided our family more than $12000 in subsidies towards the cost of our Healthcare which brought our monthly premium down to only $312 per month. These type of benefits don't get any better than this. Before you judge the ACA or Obamacare, go out to the site and look at all the plans that each state provides and based on your income, you may receive a subsidy. For two working parents, you may receive a subsidy if your combined income totals $150 to $160k. Do your homework and learn the truth about the benefits from the ACA and do not forget to vote for candidates who are looking out for your best interest, not the interests of the the rich and powerful on wallstreet.
