The property tax assessment in Connecticut has no relationship to income. It is a highly regressive tax which eventually forces people on fixed income to sell their property due to the ever increasing taxes, and these property taxes are stickly LOCAL taxes. On top of the property tax are motor vehicle property taxes, personal state income taxes, sales taxes and countless fees such as auto registration and licenses. Then after all of these taxes we are fortunate enough to have to pay federal income and social security taxes. Great place to live----NOT!!!!!

Is it coincidence that on average, the higher tax rates have a higher unemployment rate...

MSN needs to hire new writers and fire the old.  I am growing tired of the same old articles over and over and over and over and over.

I know, I don't have to read them.

Don't mind paying taxes, even higher if it goes to the right things such as teachers (and not school board members), street cleaning or city workers who maintain the cleanliness/repairs of our great cities, paying for useable and updated equipment for firefighters and police men and not lining our city officials pockets.  For when we vote people into office it was originally design to be ''an honor" to be a "public servant" and not a place for having one of the highest paid jobs in America (in which many are underhandedly paid more with 'bribes from lobbyists')  But currently, I feel I shouldn't have to pay any of our country's leaders since they are abusing the system for their own personal gains and spending away recklessly.  Personally, if you work hard and honestly in your business, with your clients and employees, then we should be the ones rewarded.  Not welfare for big corporations, mothers/fathers who abuse the welfare program and are not motivated to improve their lives much less their families, and giving tax incentives to illegal immigrates and their kids who many never lived in the homes of the US.  I don't believe in giving foreign aid with my taxes, especially to countries that don't want us there.  I don't believe in tax incentives to purchase certain things that are usually below average in quality or promote dependency on foreign oil.  As a faithful citizen, I am tired of the abuse.

Seems to be those cities with the high tax burdens are also full of people who are pushing a liberal, progressive agenda. Yet they seem to be blissfully unaware that their "take and give" mentality is destroying these cities as they also have high unemployment, high crime and a staggering gap between the rich and poor. Way to go liberals!! You're destroying my city of New York.
