Interesting that all 5 of the highest tax state are liberal. More interesting is that at least 60% of them are totally broke or near broke. Hmmmm.......
With the same people in power its no surprise the the US is also broke, yet continuing to spend, spend, spend.
We don't have a tax problem. We have a spending problem. That is a fact that cannot be denied. Why would ANY American want to give more money to a govenment that has shown it doesn't respect it??? Yet, there is a large group of Americans that want to do just that very thing. I wonder how many those follks are actually paying federal taxes? I have yet to hear anyone from that group offering a reason as to HOW the economy will improve with higher taxes? I'm just a dumb conservitive, clue me in..please. And here is the dirty little secret for my liberal friends, Obama has dug the hole so deep that the portion of the middle class that pays nothing and the portion that does will be forced to suffer a big tax increase too. Howard Dean just came out last week and said that everyone will have to pony up, the "rich" "are just the begnning". So all of you liberal freeloaders, get ready to open your piggy bank, because there are not enough rich people in this country to cover the insane (and historic) spending that is taking place.
Now take unemployment figures by state. The top five least taxed states average 5.3%. The top five most taxed stated average 8.6%. That's a difference of 3.3% points which is absolutely staggering. Imagine if we had 5.3% nationwide...
What does Obama talk about every time you hear him on TV? What was Obama's only campaign promise? What is Obama's plan for recovery? Tax the rich...tax the rich...tax the rich. He's trying to bring the California miracle (unemployment of 10% and underemployment of 24%!!!) to the rest of the nation.
Facts ... Obama and his spending adds on average over 4.6 billion a day to the National Debt. All of Congress is guilty of deficit spending and adding to the debt.
They want to raise All Taxes ... they offer NO cuts ... a 1% so called cut off the top end of proposed future deficit spending and then trying to pass that off as cuts shows you how they simply do not care about the citizens or the country.
Inflation is on the way ... you can not have debt that is more than the GNP and still adding and not have massive inflation ...
Here 75 miles north of NY I know of no one who does not pay at least 25 % in State/local and property tax, never mind sales tax. And as self employed 16.4 % in SS/Med tax and 14 K in med ins, so if you only make 42 K a year as is average, we do in USA in fact pay far more in taxes (including med ins, which is always included in northern EU) than in real socialized northern EU countries, but we get far less, like college(for those with brains) or eldercare or disability care, which after all is 33 % of us.
So try to get the facts.--And try not to include in USA all those with government jobs, who after all get more than anyone else compared to regular people, like the former Soviet Union, before that debacle.
As a former NY state resident I am not shocked at its #1 status. My mom always wanted us to move back to NY but when she told us that the local school tax alone was just over $2000/year. We just said "we love you, but we can't afford NY". Still love the food with hometown visits always including the local eateries.
We have been through this too many times, and we are going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics by finally, and completely removing restrictions on the ability of teachers and other school staff to carry firearms to protect the children in their care.
