I prefer reading about theses "must haves" rather than going into debt to have them. My better senses tells me "you don't really need any of them." Life really does go on after all.

I prefer real books to digital and real people, but I love the WII and would love a new camera, problem the cost, I fear people r charging themselves back into major debt to get these so called must have items...

We are entertaining ourselves with superfluous gadgetry. I find iPods ridiculous, whether you wave your finger on them or not. Unless you are a photo professional, digital camerasare unnecessary - and I prefer the feel of an Rolleiflex, Leica or Canon A1 to all super expensive trash. I have a cheepo. Mickey Mouse digital, which I use on eBay. But if you cannot live without twittering, texting, sexting and face booking , be my guest. I would rather read a book (not on Kindle), go to the opera, have a dinner party, play my Steinway piano or admire Arizona sunsets with a glass of Chateau Rotschild in hand.

I liked the insulting reference to dad in the techno-thermostat.

I will be saving my money for all the taxes I will have to pay when we go off the economic cliff. on 1 Jan.

I didn't see anything that I can't live with out.  Why buy todays "gotta have"when it will be outdated tomowrow when the next "best thing since sliced bread"comes out

My didital camra works fine that I bought 3 years ago, got it for $99. Don't need to spend $500 on a up dated one.

I just bought a kindle fire as an upgrade to my Kindle E-reader.It has a very good color screen and can do e-mail  and the reading books is better because you can read in the dark but the battery life sux. Now I may have waited to get aaaaa Kindle HD tablet. The price is what got me to buy it. At $120 it seemed a good deal. I suggest get the Kindle Fire HD  or opt for the Nook that can can be read in low or no light. You still can't go wrong with the plain Kindle e-reader with WIFI and cellular connection. IT's cheap and reliable and I still use it because all my devices are synced into the amazon cloud so I can access whatever I have from any tablet anywhere anytime.

I think we place too many emphasis on gifts during the holidays! I say buy a digital camera take your holiday pics upload them from your pc and do a slide show and just.....enjoy family time bonding! It has been my experience since the world of techno-gadgets has arrived there has been a break down in family time! no more dinners together at the dinner table everyone grabs a plate and heads for the bedroom to either watch TV or get on their iPads or laptops. But to each his own..so whatever makes you happy go with it!

I find the higher the technology the worse it is for our young people to have.  Right now they can't write a complete sentence nor know how to spell.  Their face to face contact is minimal and our society is suffering due to lack of ability to communicate in person with anyone.  If all the money that is spent on these unnecessary devices and given to our local food banks so our poor children right in our home towns had food to eat we would be a better community.

It was not to many years ago when clothing was all the rage. Now, everything is high tech and over the top. If this continues where will we be in 5 years.

Why, oh why do I keep hearing about "cord cutters" or getting rid of the cable company!?! How will Roku provide internet service without the cable service provider, your neighbors wifi? Please! The internet providers are here to stay for quite some time. Infrastructure is on their side at the moment.

You can buy internet only service but that will cost you quite a bit, your better off getting a bundle deal. Unfortunately the internet only service costs as much as a internet & basic cable service, better deal would be internet & telephone.

Bull, we are not doing better as a country. Try and start a new business.. There are too many regs and no money to help unless you have a good tan or are middle eastern.. sorry , but true..
