Zynga shares struggle through day

Trading was halted this morning after a 13% drop; shares rebounded when trading resumed, but are back near the day's lows. The fate of the maker of games like 'Farmville' is closely tied to Facebook. Other social-networking stocks also lose ground.

While the world watches the market debut of Facebook (FB), one of its big partners is suffering.

Trading in shares of Zynga (ZNGA) were halted during morning trading after a 13% drop. The shares rebounded when trading resumed and rebounded before a second freeze. This afternoon, they're trading again near the day's lows.

The social-game company makes many of the most-popular games on Facebook, including "Farmville," tying its fortunes closely to the giant.

Zynga shares hit the market late last year near $11 each; they were trading at $7.80 when trading was halted the second time.

Shares of several other social-networking names, including LinkedIn (LNKD) and Groupon (GRPN), are also trading lower today.

zynga and facebook both have terrible customer service!  i am just about done with fb if they dont change very soon .  i already uninstalled all zynga from my phone and pc.  i had haging with friends words with friends texas holdem poker and slyngo.  done with them!  a lot of my friends feel the same .   i hope you didnt buy fb shares at $42 a share because that price is going to drop like a rock real soon if things dont change right away.   there is talk and people are working on a date to shut down there fb accounts hopfully in a massive fb boycott.   i dont care what business or field your in no matter how technological if you dont take care of or listen to your customers you will not succeed

At Mike, you probably know you can block the posts to your timeline of friends who play the Zynga games.

I have been playing Zynga games for about 2 years.  They seem to be having a hard time getting cash flow lately and have been making all kind of deals to help.  This company allows all players to play for free and you can to be good player as long as you stay active without paying anything. The customer service has improved greatly in last 3 months.  They seem to start caring what the player have to say and how to fix the minor problems that are found.  I play several Zynga games includng Castleville, Hidden Chronicles and Mafia Wars.  I did play Farmville, but the game changed to have so many farms that it took way too long to play.  I wish that more players would respond to the news and let everyone know how they have improved.  I did notice that the Facebook price was much higher than I thought it would be.  I thought it would be around $36, but $41 is much higher.  Maybe they should not have added all the shares, it seems they will make the 15B without out them.  Zynga is VERY important to Facebook because it also pulls in gamers.
