These names used to be among the leaders in their field. But it's easy to slide far and fast when things don't go right.

Haven't watched MTV in years. Once they had great music videos, now just crap, or rap what ever its called. And when they took over CMT country  music went to hell in a handbasket. May as well have Miley singing country.

sad to think MTV was worth mentioning in this article. Even worse that the reason it is on the list is because it doesn't air Jersey Shore

The reason for the decline of all these companies is, first and foremost, just plain bad management.  Plus, management took some of the companies down the garden path to produce Chinese garbage for its products.  Of course, once they slapped their names on the products, they expected top dollar for the Chinese junk. I won't buy HP products any more after I bought three HP printers and they all ended up at the trash dump after less than a year with very light usage.

post PC world???

I do not believe the PC will go anywhere thank you very much. tablets may be good for modible computing but wouldn't that primarily strike laptop? not desktop sales. Windows8 may also have something to do with Dell HP and the rest loosing sales... I hear sales of PCs are really down with the shift from Win7 to Win8. I myself opted for a windows 7 machine last year cause I don't want to deal with that touchscreen "i wanna be a smart phone but i'm a computer!" nonsense...

There are literally billions of PC's being used today.  This is NOT a "post-PC world."

MTV needs to get rid of their "Reality Shows" and bring back the music videos! We should not have to search online for a video, Though I did just see Paul McCartney's "Queenie Eyes" and truly enjoyed it, but it was on a website I was looking at on my phone, so it probably would have blown me away if it was on a bigger screen....

I've always used Canon cameras for my photo work due to their quality. I started with an AV-1 SLR for film photography and then went to digital with their 10D SLR. Cell phones may be great due to their

being so portable, but  you sure can't put a wide - angle lens or a zoom - telephoto on a cell phone for

certain shots you want to take!! Plus they make those cell phones so blasted small, how in the world are you supposed to read those buttons and / or icons when you are in a hurry!!??

Jonathan, pull your head out of your rear-end.  The PC era has not "come to an end" as you claim.  It may be in the mature PLC stage, but so are all the other cash cow businesses on Earth.  Your focus on the next greatest new thing is blinding you from a realistic assessment of the current situation.

These countries had poor leadership at the top and the wrong vision of the future.  The United States of America tops the list of Government brands that are slipping and soon to be gone and for the same reasons.

I have to say it's kind of funny how msn post how Nintendo and Sony aren't doing so well. Last I heard  Microsoft wasn't doing all that great either. It's also interesting to note that all though apple sale's for the new iphone are good stock's are dropping. I thought was kind of crazy when I heard Heinz wasn't doing all that well. There's a Heinz factory close to where I live hopefully there's no layoff's.  And omfg can you people stop with the Obama slamming all over every news story. I'm not for any one party over the other I think both have good point's to make. I'm just sick of reading the slander over every news story and I mean every news story.

whoever this writer is clearly has interjected their own personal opinion into this article.  especially where the "Post PC" terms are over and over again stated.  The PC market is actually doing well, and has leveled off to where it was BEFORE we had crap brand pre-made junk that everyone from grandma to the 4 yr. old toddler just all had to have.  The PC market is now for people who know how to use the PC and use it for more then just a shopping portal or Youtube box.  Just like it should be.  And as far as the entertainment part of most PC's such as gaming, they are on the rise as well, especially when you look at cost against the new consoles coming out.  PC hardware is up, PC gaming software is up.  this person who wrote this article is quite apparent that the only thing in his life is a smartphone and probably a cup of over priced coffee....
