3 winners, 3 losers since the shutdown

Several sectors have been especially hard-hit by Washington's standstill, while the implementation of the Affordable Care Act has been a boon to others.

Oh Come on let the little socialist clown Obozo have a few more trillion of debt don't you know Big Ben's elite rich welfare has blessed America. It's true with the lowest labor participation rate since 1978 how could you naughty republicans question such poverty and overwhelming debt. My fellow drooling stupid democrats these naughty republicans just cant stand the prosperity debt welfare and government work force brings. Keep fighting democrats and we can create the utopia of Detroit Nation wide. OH Yes we can now feel warm and fuzzy full of "hope and change"......Sleepy nighty night my lil socialist morons.

I am very thankful for those few patriotic Americans that have taken a stand against the trash trying to totally destroy our nation and everything that made it great. The liberals that aren't obammie phone carrying total pieces of trash confirm their ignorance every time they open their mouth. I only hope we can save our nation from Sheikh Obammie and his kind peacefully but it will happen one way or the other.

Political party doesn't make a person as there are about as many decent human beings on either side of the isle, and the number is very small.

Did you know if our nation NEVER borrowed another penny and paid $13,000 a SECOND for interest only for the next million years, and our national ddebt continued to accrue at the same rats as last year which is the lowest interest rates in history... than our national debt would still rise forever?

LOL, yes, at the current amount owed (almost $17,000,000,000,000) the interest ONLY on the national debt paid LAST YEAR is more than $13,000 per second -- almost $360,000,000,000 in interest last year but rising to an expected $415,000,000,000 this coming year even if we don't borrow another penny.

The ONLY solution is to start having annual SURPLUSES larger than our interest payments due... and at the current spending rates this would mean spending cuts AND/OR tax cuts of more than $1,400,000,000,000 a YEAR.  Since we currently tax $2.7 trillion a year and spent $3.7 trillion a year PLUS this interest, this in going to be impossible to do if we don't start NOW.  This is the worst time in our history to add another Ponzi-scheme entitlement like ObamaCare!

I love shopping at JCP.  Granted, they do not have the same sales they used to have with the coupons, but I still like their brands.  I bought custom Roman shades online and my last 2 bedspreads have come from there.  I definitely was disappointed when they changed over to the new style 2 years ago, but in the process, I got some great bargains.  Their kids clothes are nice and my daughter loves their jeans. They're trying to overcome the economy and I hope they make it.

Dear DICK the Pensioner, I hope that you have a job lined up in the meantime you need to go take an economics class, get your eyes checked and your ears cleaned out. This economy is an absolute falsehood. The only reason the market is up is because of the QE that would be quantitative easing ( you will want to go look that up with a grown up) that the Fed is doing. Have you noticed what the market does when the Fed talks about not pumping $80 billion a month in to the market. The underlying fundamentals of businesses is in the crapper. As far as Syria you do realize they are still killing their people just not with gas. Give your damn head a shake man.

Not sure who the 3 winners are, but I do know that the losers are the American people. The French had the right idea when they dealt with Marie Antoinette and Louis!

What has this shut down accomplished  but to hurt thousands of innocent people?  Even the Kock brothers are turning against the tea party wackos as they fear the impending catastrophe that could come from a default.

When are the adults in the republican party going to take charge and spank these foolish tea party spoiled brats?

The American middle class loses regardless.

We witness waste, nothing but waste, born of phony republican politics.

All unwarranted, and manufactured for maximum dysfunction.

There simply and obviously is no basic American honor in a republican's politics.

None. They literally stain our hallowed soil.

So much hatred and negativity from the right wing.  Hope you learn to be happy someday.
