Government goats laid off in shutdown
Larry Cihanek's goats graze among the weeds at federal parks and keep the places looking healthy.
That's because Cihanek is a goat farmer, and a big part of his business is leasing out his herd to federal parks, where they graze among the weeds and keep the places looking healthy and green.
Because of the shutdown, only three of Cihanek's goats are working, grazing at a locally run park in Easton, Pa., not for the Feds.
The rest have been furloughed because national parks are closed during the impasse in Washington. They're now munching in the fields at Cihanek's farm in Rhinebeck, N.Y.
Unfortunately, finances are too tight in Easton to get any more goats.
"My goats live the American dream," an optimistic Cihanek told The Morning Call of Allentown, Pa. "They eat for a living."

we need this Goat farmer.... If he rents his goats out to help keep cost down.... the federal government would pay the farmer or .. (we) The government would be paying a contractor to use his big lawn mower and that lawn mower will be driven by a illegal immigrant and gas to run the machine... at least some one is trying to help keep us GREEN.

Goats R US!
Goats are used especially for fire prevention in brushy areas, around homes, in forests and even airports. After the awful Berkely fire, there was a long waiting list for goats to clear a good firebreak around homes and the Sad Diego fire could have been prevented if there hadn't been a decision that it was too expensive to clear the brush out. For more happy & heartbreaking stories Google GoatsR Us. The Govmnt was going to kill the goats living on Catalina Island but one man said he would take the goats and promised that they could live out their lives at his ranch. He did it and soon was renting out his goats to help out. Cool! Happy goats! Happy me! Pay the goats!
