Which beers are most beloved by American drinkers? According to a new ranking from YouGov BrandIndex, Sam Adams (SAM) makes our nation's favorite suds.

The brand perception tracker asked 5,500 adults across the country if they'd heard anything positive or negative in the last two weeks "through advertising, news or word of mouth" about specific beer brands.

Their answers were scored on a range from 100 (positive) to -100 (negative). YouGov then calculated the final score by subtracting negative feedback from positive. So, a zero score means equal positive and negative feedback.

They found some notable differences from last year's list. Nationwide, Bud Light, Dos Equis, and Heineken rose in the rankings, while Corona and Stella Artois went down.

On YouGov's local list for New York City, Budweiser (BUD) came in at No. 10 compared to No. 2 nationally, Yuengling rated much higher, and Coors and Blue Moon both showed up in the top 10. For more on last year's rankings, click here.

In order to get an accurate survey one would think that you would need to ask more like 5.5 million adults not 5,500. BS survey holds no merit.

This is a stupid article! The headline reads "HERE'S AMERICAS FAVORITE BEER" then it states ...

"The brand perception tracker asked 5,500 adults across the country if they'd heard anything positive or negative in the last two weeks "through advertising, news or word of mouth" about specific beer brands."

It says nothing about beer ranking by sales consumption. Just whether you have heard about it in the last two weeks via advertising or in the news! So if a Schlitz factory had burned down and made the news nationwide it would be on the list of Americas favorite beers?

It just goes to show you that what passes for journalism ... isnt.

When all the brewers met for lunch after a stint in the conference room , the ceo of Sam Adams  ordered a Sam Adams, the ceo of Budweiser got a bud light , when the ceo of Michelob was asked what he wanted he said bring me a Coke, So the other guys asked why he didn't order a beer , he simply said " Well you guys didn't, So I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings"

Three Floyds, Stone, Great Lakes, Dark Horse, Saugatauk Brewing Co, New Glarus, Flying Dog, and Left Hand. You really don't need to go too far to find a good craft beer.

With the exception of Sam Adams, Guinness and Dos Equis, none of the beers listed would even make my top 100 list. We simply have too many great choices from local craft breweries to waste time and money on these beer-like products.

That's usually how it is, 4-5 that are good and 4-5 that taste like crap.  I agree and disagree with uncle nutsy, any beer that needs a piece of fruit in it is not a beer in my book (blue moon & corona) but I do like Dos Equis minus the fruit of course.

Uncle Nuts, The guy is not Mexican, "The World's most Interesting Man," or something like that.

He advertises Dos Equis beer and lives a quiet life in Vermont or New Hampshire as an American.

Pretty sure he's not even Latino anything ??

MSN at it again, promoting a product because they pulled out of a parade. The progressive, liberal news network that loves to cause division and controversy. Lack of facts, half stories, agenda feed network. What did they only poll NYers?

By the way Sam Adams sucks! like most micro brewed beer. Rice brewed beer like BUD is even worse.  If you know anything about beer then the top beers would be German or Canadian, FACT!

Budweiser is swill.
Bud Light is less than swill.
People who drink either have defective taste buds... or they just don't get out enough.

if they'd heard anything positive or negative in the last two weeks "through advertising, news or word of mouth" about specific beer brands.  That's what the rating was based on was what advertising have you heard.  That doesn't make for the best beer, it makes for the most advertised brand.  As my Uncle used to say, the only kind of beer I like is cold beer.
