A federal judge ruled that Apple (AAPL) conspired to raise the retail prices of e-books in violation of antitrust law and called for a trial on damages, Reuters and other media outlets reported.

Among the notable gainers was Nu Skin (NUS), which rallied 14% after the company raised its second quarter and fiscal year guidance.

Also higher were shares of Family Dollar (FDO), which advanced nearly 7% after the company reported third quarter earnings per share that beat consensus.

Among the noteworthy losers was Rackspace (RAX), which fell over 7%, with the move attributed to concerns over price cuts announced by rival Amazon (AMZN) for certain cloud services.

Also lower were shares of ADTRAN (ADTN), which slid 7% following its earnings report.
