Universal Display shares rise 25% on earnings beat
The company reported a profit, impressing investors who had mostly expected a loss.
Motley Fool Analyst Simon "Leif" Erickson liked what he saw, especially EPS of 12 cents compared to expectations of a 3-cent loss and revenue heading up 162% year over year. Simon is a fan of what the company’s doing in the OLED market, specifically how Universal Display has begun to figure out green emitter materials, which sent sales skyrocketing.
While he does admit that Universal Display isn’t the only company in this space, he thinks it’s the best of the bunch thanks to factors like a partnership with Samsung, and he still thinks the company has a lot of catalysts ahead of it.
