Wal-Mart (WMT) is cutting the price of the iPhone, according to Engadget.

The entry-level (16 GB) iPhone 5s will cost $99 with a two-year contract contract. The entry-level (16 GB) iPhone 5c will cost $29 with a two-year contract.

Wal-mart has run deals in the past, but this discount is permanent.

The iPhone 6 is expected to be out in September. This usually leads to a slowdown in iPhone sales since people can usually hold out for two more months.

The iPhone 6 is expected to be a significant upgrade

Apple (AAPL) will reportedly deliver a two bigger models. The current iPhone has a 4-inch screen. The iPhone 6 is expected to have a 4.7-inch screen and a 5.5-inch screen.

So, if you have an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, or even an iPhone 5, you may be asking yourself if it's worth taking advantage of this Wal-Mart deal.

Here is my advice. If you can wait, then wait. The price of an iPhone 5s will not be higher in September. At that point, you'll be able to see the big screen phones and make a decision for yourself.

However, if you're impatient, go to Wal-Mart. Try using the Internet on a Samsung S5 phone and a Galaxy Note III phone. If you like those big screens, then wait until September. If you think they're too big, and too hard to handle, then you should just buy an iPhone 5S.

The iPhone 5S is a great phone. Based on everything we've read, the bigger screen is the only major modification coming the iPhone 6.

Why would anyone commit to a cell phone contract in this day and age?  They are not a good deal financially.  Save up to afford your phone with cash, then shop for a month-to-month plan that suits your needs and phone preference.

"Based on everything we've read, the bigger screen is the only major modification coming the iPhone 6". What have you read? It is a completely different operating system on a phone with an entirely new design. Even the glass will be made of new materials. Other than that, yeah, pretty much the same.

So 24 months x $25 is $600 subsidy plus the $29 or $99 immediate down payment.  I just switched my AT&T 2 year contract that ended to their new Mobile Share plan and my bill went from $78 to $55 because I'm keeping my paid off Lumia 900.  If I want a new Lumia 1020 they'll add $20-30 a month for 18-24 months or I can buy it outright around $600. There's no free lunches.

Not sure if there is anything more sad than people camp out and stand in line overnight for the latest iphone, or Xbox, or to be one of the first to see a movie, etc, etc, etc,... and the truth is, this isn't just kids doing this anymore, it's "adults".  All in a quest to be the first...  what is wrong with people?  Is life that shallow for them?  Are they that superficial?

Been watching this phenomena for a few decades, and it becomes more pathetic with time.

Why are people using the Wal-Mart smart phone to bash the president?  Just another running mouth.  Vote any way you want.  But using every site to bash someone is rude to the other readers!

How can iOS 8 be completely different from iOS 7?  Sapphire vs. Gorilla Glass?  Yep, that's real technology that was invented for watch crystals many years ago and is scratch resistance.

Phones and electronic imported junk has filled America over the top and Walmart can buy this crap for practically nothing so for them to have a sale on this junk means nothing, They would be better served by having a sale on food products such as that prepacked overpriced meat, As for telephones many people dont know there is much better deals around without signing a contract. I can talk on my phone around the world one hour or ten hours and the bill is still $32.00 a month and i have no contract.
