Nuance Communications: Trader talks up Siri
This company's Siri technology is proving to be a killer app for Apple's iPhone 4S.

It’s always good for sales when a product has an engaging spokesperson, and Nuance Communications (NUAN) has found a great one in Siri, the voice-activated personal digital assistant on the new iPhone 4S from Apple (AAPL).
The Siri feature is proving to be the killer app for the iPhone line, generating huge buzz.
And the engine behind Siri is Nuance Communication’s Dragon speech recognition software, which has long been recognized as the best in the business, enabling voice dictation that’s accurate and fast.
The company has more than 35 regional offices and sales representatives in more than 70 countries.
In addition, the company has a promising new Swype technology that allows word creation on touch-phone screens by continuous tracing over the virtual keyboard without lifting your finger, but Siri is clearly in the driver’s seat.

Investors are intrigued, and when Nuance reports Q3 earnings on November 22, results are expected to be impressive.
We don’t advocate betting on results, but Nuance has been the Editor’s Choice in three of its five appearances in Cabot Top Ten Trader, so we clearly like the story.
NUAN has been on a roll since it corrected to 16 in early August. The stock has been rising steadily since early September, with a big-volume day coming on October 18 after the company raised its Q4 outlook.
The stock has paused under resistance at 27 for a little over a week, which may indicate some wait-and-see action among investors.
With the 25-day moving average keeping pace at 24, we think NUAN looks buyable anywhere under 26. If you decide to get in before earnings, keep it small, with a stop at 22.
