Verizon customers report data outages

Users nationwide are seeing spotty 3G and 4G service just weeks after an earlier outage.

Verizon (VZ) customers nationwide were having trouble accessing the company's data network Wednesday. Again. It was the second time this month that Verizon's network has had problems.

Investors are shrugging off the situation. Verizon shares were down only 26 cents -- less than 1% -- Wednesday morning to $38.95.

The company told Bloomberg that users began reporting no 4G access and sporadic 3G service early Wednesday, and its Twitter support page has been very busy responding to complaints. Tech site The Verge says a Verizon support rep confirmed the outage but wasn't allowed to discuss it.

Users were still able to make calls and send messages, and some said they had no data problems at all.

But others filled Verizon's user forums with reports of down service. No 4G in Alabama, Virginia, Arizona and California's Bay Area. No 3G or 4G in other areas. "I'm getting very tired of this," one user wrote.

It's been a rough month for Verizon. On Dec. 7, users reported problems with the company's 4G service, and Verizon acknowledged the issue. The next day, Verizon said service returned to normal after its network operations team resolved a technical issue.

Just yesterday morning, my phone starting going crazy delivering text messages.  I received 8 text messages in a matter of a few seconds that dated back to Friday, Dec. 23,  One was from my daughter in law on Christmas Eve at 10:30 PM, telling me the grandkids were asleep so Santa (gramma) could deliver Christmas presents.  Glad Santa didn't wait for the "all clear" text message....  LOL

For a complete week from 12/10-12/16 we could not get data info from any of our TV stations.  I like to read about what I am watching and if made me so angry and my family that we could not see the title or info for the programs.  I hope Verizon realize that they really should give their customers credit for this.

For the past few weeks I have been experiencing problems with my internet (I have a wireless data card for my computer).  I watch the bars go from 1 to 2 to 0 to 1 to o and keep getting messages like "not connected to internet", "hot mail not available", I check and I am still connected.  My phone, also, Verizon 3G, according to friends will ring numerous times and never go to voice mail ALL THE WHILE NEVER RINGING through to my phone. In my opinion a lot of their problems have been when they shut down cell towers to install new electronics for their 4G network.  That means that calls have to bounce off distant towers and evidently go out into space.  Maybe E.T. will answer.  Contract with Verizon is up in January, Verizon is gonna be history.
