Congratulations, Virginia. You're the top state for business for 2011.

CNBC has once again ranked all states to find out which is the best for doing business. Some of the categories include quality of life, a low cost for operating, economy, workforce, education and cost of living.

This time around, Scott Cohn reports, Virginia won the best point total in the history of the study.

Here's a rundown of all five top finalists and why they're so appealing to businesses, starting with Virginia:

Texas. Second place went to Texas, which was praised for its infrastructure and transportation and its technology. Texas won last year. The following video has more about why Texas got the No. 2 spot.

North Carolina. Next up was North Carolina, which had high points for workforce as well as infrastructure and transportation. Cohn explains more in the following video about why North Carolina scored so high.

Georgia. The number four spot went to Georgia, a big jump from its No. 10 ranking last year. The state has good infrastructure and workforce, and a fairly low cost of living. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to snag the Georgia video from the CNBC folks, so let's just move on to No. 5....

Colorado. Finally, Colorado rounded out the top five, scoring high on business friendliness, workforce and quality of life. But Colorado's economy has really struggled in the last year. Here's the video report about Colorado's perks:
