Midday movers: Vodafone, First Solar, Ulta Salon

Stocks are lower and, if current levels hold, the market faces its first three-day losing streak of the year.

Cooper Tire (CTB) agreed to be acquired by India's Apollo Tyres for $35 per share in cash, or $2.5 billion. Cooper shares surged 40% to trade near $34.50 following the deal announcement, while peer Goodyear Tire (GT) advanced about 2.3%. 

Vodafone (VOD) confirmed it has approached Germany's Kabel Deutschland about a possible deal, as previously reported by media outlets. Vodafone shares trading in New York slid about 2% following the confirmation.

Caterpillar (CAT) announced a 15% increase in its dividend, to 60c from 52c per share. 

Among the notable gainers was Ulta Salon (ULTA), up more than 15% following its quarterly earnings report. 

Also higher was Spectra Energy (SE), up better than 9% after saying it plans to drop down all of its remaining U.S. Transmission and Storage assets to Spectra Energy Partners (SEP). 

Among the noteworthy losers were First Solar (FSLR), down 3.5%, and Icahn Enterprises (IEP), down more than 7.5%, after both announced secondary stock offerings.
